RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada lost its WAC opener Thursday to the University of Idaho 61-56 in overtime in front of 896 fans at Lawlor Events Center.  Nevada, in the midst of its best start to a season in program history, dropped to 11-3 (0-1 WAC) on the year while Idaho improves to 8-5 (1-0 WAC).

It's the first time Nevada has had an overtime game since March 12, 2009.  With Thursday's loss, the Wolf Pack drops to 8-15 all-time in overtime games.  Idaho has now claimed three straight over the Pack after sweeping Nevada in both matchups last season.

Nevada was led by senior captain Shavon Moore who racked up her fourth double-double of the season with 22 points and 12 rebounds on 9-18 shooting.  Fellow captain Tahnee Robinson returned to the team after missing two games due to the loss of her grandfather and scored 11 points and seven boards.  Idaho's Yinka Olorunnife led all scorers with 18 points.

As a team the Pack shot 36.8 percent hitting 21-57 field goals with two three-pointers.  Nevada outscored the Vandals in the paint 38-24, but got out-rebounded 43-41.  Idaho held the lead throughout most of the game, but the Pack made a late surge to tie up the game at 50 with 1:44 to play.  Nevada was then went cold in the overtime period getting outscored 9-4, hitting just one field goal.

Nevada will continue its home stand in a doubleheader with the men's team on Saturday.  The women face Boise State at 4:30 p.m. on Saturday after the men's game with Utah State at 1 p.m.  In honor of the football team's appearance in the Kraft Fight Hunger Bowl on Sunday, Nevada is offering a five-dollar ticket for both basketball games on Saturday with the donation of a canned food item for the Food Bank of Northern Nevada.
