RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada women's basketball team will host Fresno State this Saturday at 2 p.m. at Lawlor Events Center. Nevada (13-5, 2-3 WAC) returns home for the first time in three games and is looking to break and eight-game losing streak against Fresno State (14-6, 5-1 WAC).
The Wolf Pack is looking to break a three-game skid after having dropped its last two games on the road at Utah State (81-69) and Louisiana Tech (67-43). Nevada is 9-26 against the Bulldogs, but 8-10 when in Reno. The last time the Pack beat the 'Dogs was back on Jan. 25, 2007 68-61 in Fresno.
Saturday's game will also honor Girls and Women in Sports Day. Free events, including sports clinics conducted by Nevada student-athletes and interactive booths hosted by community organizations, will begin at 11 am.
Although the title of the day focuses on girls and women in sports, their male counterparts are encouraged to attend as well, as there will be male student-athletes from Nevada participating. In addition, three players will honored with their trading cards being distributed at the game. Fans will be able to collect cards for Shavon Moore, Holly Jones and Amber Smith, all who will be available for autographs after the game.
In addition to the hosted booths, any child eighth grade or younger and his/her parents will be served lunch and offered free admission to the game against the Bulldogs.
For those who do not attend the Girls and Women in Sports Day activities, tickets will be $7 for adults and $4 for children eighth grade and under and seniors 65 and older.
