RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada women's basketball team will travel to Ruston, La. to face WAC leader Louisiana Tech Saturday at 5 p.m. PDT. Nevada is currently on one the program's best ever records at this point in a season sitting at 13-4 (2-2 WAC) while the Lady Techsters are at 12-4 (4-0 WAC).
The Wolf Pack is currently on a three-game road stand having won at New Mexico State last Wednesday (65-46) and losing at Utah State on Saturday (81-69). The Wolf Pack is lead by its two senior captains. Tahnee Robinson is currently the 11th-best scorer in the nation with her 21.3 ppg, while Shavon Moore averages 16.6, after a week where she scored two double-doubles and passed the 1,000-point career mark.
Louisiana Tech leads the all-time series 18-5 after the two teams split the regular season last year and also eliminating the Pack in the semifinals of the WAC Tournament last season. Nevada has only won in Ruston once in nine games, having taken a 55-54 win back in the 2006-07 season.
Nevada last faced the LA Tech Lady Techsters March 12, 2010 in the WAC Tournament. The Lady Techsters handed the Wolf Pack an 80-77 loss to remove Nevada from the WAC Championship race.
The Wolf Pack had four athletes score in double digits: Tahnee Robinson, Shavon Moore, Kayla Williams and Johnna Ward. Robinson led the team with 18 points, shooting nearly 64 percent from the floor. Moore and Williams each recorded a double-double. Moore achieved the feat with 16 points, 11 rebounds, while Williams did so with 15 points, 11 rebounds. Ward turned in 14 points for the Pack.
The Lady Techsters were led by returner Adrienne Johnson, who also led all scorers, with 29 points. The Pack shot 47.8 percent (32 of 67) from the floor in the game, while the Lady Techsters shot 53.4 percent (31 of 58). Nevada out-rebounded LA Tech 36 to 29.
