Notes Following NMSU Game Nevada (6-13, 3-3 WAC) improved to 6-13 and 3-3 in Western Athletic Conference play after defeating New Mexico State University (10-10, 4-2 WAC) 90-71 on Thursday.
Nevada has won two in a row for the first time this season after the victory over NMSU.
Nevada scored a season-high 90 points in the win and shot a season best 56.5 percent from the field.
The 19-point victory was the largest winning margin this season.
For the second time this season five players scored in double figures in NMSU game; Deonte Burton (22), Dario Hunt (20), Olek Czyz (15), Malik Story (10) and Derrell Conner (10).
Hunt recorded his seventh double-double of the season and eighth of his career with 20 points and 12 rebounds against the Aggies.
Burton has scored 20 or more points for the third consecutive game after his 22 versus NMSU, 23 at Idaho and 20 at Boise State. All three were game highs.
Burton is averaging 21.7 points, 2.7 rebounds and 3.3 assists the last three games. He is shooting 66 (21-of-32) percent from the field which includes 57 (8-of-14) percent from behind the 3-point arc and 75 (15-of-20) percent from the free throw line.
Burton’s 22 and Hunt’s 20 was the second time two Pack players scored 20 points in the same game. Hunt and Czyz both had 23 versus Hawai`i.
Burton scored double figures for the 15th time which leads the team. Hunt and Story have now scored in double figures in 14 games, Czyz eight and Conner four.
Nevada continues to have four players averaging double figures after the victory. Czyz leads the way at 14.6 per game; Story scores 13.6 per contest, Burton 13.1 and Hunt 13.
Hunt’s 12 rebounds leaves him one short of cracking the Nevada career top 10. He is one back of Dave Weber (1972-74) for 10th in Pack history.
Hunt produced his eighth double figure rebounding game of the season versus the Aggies and has led the team in rebounding in 15 times.
Jordan Finn missed his first game of the season after suffering back spasms prior to the NMSU game.
Sophomore Patrick Nyeko is averaging 19.3 minutes per game the last three contests.
Jerry Evans, Jr. returned to the starting lineup versus NMSU after missing the game at Idaho and playing just one minute at Boise State after suffering an ankle injury in practice.
Devonte Elliott has scored four points in each of the last two games after totaling two in the previous seven games.
Derrell Conner dished out a career-high five assists and tied his career-high of three steals versus NMSU.
Olek Czyz scored in double figures for the seventh consecutive game.
Czyz is second in WAC play scoring 19 points per game and is tied for first shooting 50 (12-of-24) from behind the 3-point line.
Dario Hunt continues to lead the WAC in rebounding at 9.6 per game and blocked shots averaging 1.63 per game.
Malik Story is second in the conference making 2.63, 3-pointers per game and his 42 percent from behind the arc is fourth. In WAC play his three long range shots per game leads the conference.
