The University of Nevada women's basketball team defeated Brigham Young University Saturday, 57-53 to improve its best start to a season ever moving to 11-2 in front of 1,268 Silver and Blue faithful.  BYU falls to 8-5 for the, after losing back-to-back games.

Nevada shot 33.3 percent from the field hitting 20-60 shots from the field with six three-pointers.  The Pack out-rebounded the Cougars 45-36 and forced 19 turnovers and scored 13 points off those turnovers. 

For the second time this season, Nevada had two players score double-doubles in a game with Shavon Moore scoring 16 with 11 rebounds and Kayla Williams scoring 10 with 12 boards.  Johnna Ward led all scorers with 17, tying her career high for threes in a game with five and also had four steals.  BYU also had three players in double-digit scoring with Jennifer Hamson led the Cougars with 13 and seven rebounds.

The Pack was continued to be short-handed as team captain and leading scorer Tahnee Robinson missed her second straight game due to the death of her grandfather.  Robinson is expected to return to the team on Thursday.

Nevada will continue its homestand on Thursday, Dec. 6 when it opens WAC play with Idaho at Lawlor Events Center. The game will be televised on ESPNU and will be the Pack's first of two televised home games by the network this season.
