With the win, Nevada …
-    Improves to 1-0 on the season, 491-434-33 overall (104th season) and 111-94 as an FBS school.
-    Coach Chris Ault improved to 207-96-1 in his 26-year career.
-    Improved its advantage in the overall series with EWU to 8-1.

OPENERS: Nevada improved to 58-43-3 all-time in season openers and coach Chris Ault improved to 16-20 in his season openers.

CAREER NIGHT FOR VIRGIL: Senior tight end Virgil Green had a career night for the Wolf Pack, catching seven for 144 yards and two touchdowns. Green, a member of the Watch List for the Mackey Award given to the nation’s top tight end, had touchdown receptions of 48 and 40 yards for Nevada. The first TD came with just 17 seconds left in the first half and gave Nevada a 28-10 halftime lead.

KAEPERNICK MOVES UP: With a pair of first-quarter rushing touchdowns, senior quarterback Colin Kaepernick moved up to 11th all-time in career rushing TDs by a quarterback. He now has 41 in his career, which is tied with Dee Dowis (Air Force). Kaepernick is now alone in third place in Nevada history after entering the season in a tie with Hall of Famer Frank Hawkins at 39.

TAUA TOPS 3,000 YARDS: With 51 yards on the night, senior running back Vai Taua moved over the 3,000-yard mark for his career. He entered the game with 2,978 yards and he is the sixth running back in Nevada history to hit the milestone. Taua is now at 3,029 yards in his career. The other five: Frank Hawkins, Charvez Foger, Chris Lemon, Chance Kretschmer and Luke Lippincott. Quarterback Colin Kaepernick is inching up on the mark.

KAEPERNICK OVER 10K IN TOTAL OFFENSE: Kaepernick entered the game at 9,982 yards of total offense and moved over the 10,000-yard mark on Nevada’s first drive. He is now at 10,348 yards and in second place all-time behind David Neill (11,145 yards).

DUAL THREAT: Kaepernick had a strong night on the ground and throw the air. The senior rushed 11 times for 60 yards and two touchdowns. But it was his passing that stood out. Kaepernick completed 26 of 37 for 306 yards and two scores without an interception. That marked the most yards in a game for Kaepernick since the 2008 Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl when he threw for 370 yards against Maryland.

ET CETERA: Eastern Washington won the toss and deferred to the second half … Nevada received the opening kickoff and defended the north goal … Redshirt freshman kicker Anthony Martinez made his debut and was a perfect 7 of 7 on extra points … Juco transfer Bubba Boudreaux made his debut and tied for the team lead with seven tackles, including a big sack on a third down play … Junior Brandon Marshall recorded Nevada’s other sack on the night … Marshall also recovered a fumble, which was forced by Doyle Miller … Miller had the lone interception tonight – a fourth-quarter pick inside the Pack’s on 20-yard line … Moe Patterson caught the first pass of his career and ended the night with two catches for 15 yards … Malcolm Shepherd had his first college catch, a 33-yarder that nearly went for a score.
NEXT UP: The Wolf Pack will stay at home for the second of three straight road games, playing host to Colorado State next Saturday at Mackay Stadium … Kickoff is set for 7:30 and the game will be televised by ESPNU.
