BULLINGTON, Iowa – Nevada senior Scott Smith shot a final-round 73 and finished tied for fourth at the Golfweek Conference Challenge, hosted by Iowa at Spirit Hollow Golf Course.

Smith led the Pack to a 12th place finish at the event, the first of the year for the Wolf Pack.

“I was happy with the way Scott played,” Nevada coach Jacob Wilner said. “He’s going to have a chance to win a number of events this year and he played well this week. Overall, we got a good chance to see where we are right now and where we need to go. It’s good to have a tournament under your belt heading into our Wolf Pack Classic.”

Brian Knoll shot an even-par 72 on Tuesday and finished in a tie for 39th. Kevin Lucas, who got into contention on Monday with a 2-under 70, fell off the pace on Wednesday and finished eight strokes over par and in a tie for 45th.

Chris Cho finished in a tie for 70th while Chris Plappert, who struggled in the first two rounds, shot a two-over 74 on Tuesday and finished 74th.

Iowa won the team event going away.

Nevada will return home and prepare for the Wolf Pack Classic, hosted this year at Edgewood Golf Course on Oct. 4-5
