Box Score SAN FRANCISCO, Calif. - The University of Nevada women's soccer team (3-3-1, 0-0-0 WAC) topped the San Francisco Dons by a final score of 1-0 Sunday.
The win was the second in a row for the Pack, both coming away from Mackay Stadium.
"Going on the road and winning two games isn't easy," head coach Missy Price said. "I'm extremely proud of our ability to put together back to back wins against tough opponents"
The lone goal of the match was scored by Freshman Danielle Green in the 80th minute. Coming off a free kick, the goal was the second of the year for her.
Recording a 90 minute individual shutout, Marie Cove played a solid game in net for the Pack.
"Marie Cove made a huge save to keep us in the game in the second half," Price said.
Sustained offensive pressure was a key for Nevada, as they peppered USF goalkeeper Heather Haney with seven shots on target.
San Francisco also had chances to score, as they fired 10 shots at Cove and forced Nevada into five fouls.
"San Francisco is a well organized and well coached team," Price said. "We fought hard and worked hard for 90 minutes."
Nevada will return home to meet Idaho State in the second game of the Wolf Pack Invitational Thursday, September 16 at 7 p.m. The kick-off game of the tournament will be held at Mackay Stadium the same day at 4:30 p.m. when San Jose State meets Eastern Michigan.
