Reno, Nev. – Nevada sophomore Brandon Wimberly has been named to the Watch List for the Biletnikoff Award, which is given annually to the nation’s top receiver. The 51-player list was announced Tuesday by the Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation.

Wimberly, a wide receiver from Los Angeles, Calif. (Gardena HS), was the Freshman of the Year in the Western Athletic Conference last season after leading Nevada with 53 catches for 733 yards and six touchdowns. He was also named second-team All-WAC. He has been named preseason All-WAC by a number of publications.

Nevada has never had a Biletnikoff Award winner but the school has produced two finalists for the award in its history. Trevor Insley was a finalist in 1999 and Nate Burleson, currently of the Detroit Lions, was a finalist in 2002.

Wimberly is one of four WAC players on the list, including two from Boise State and one from Hawai`i.

About the Biletnikoff Award: The Tallahassee Quarterback Club Foundation, Inc., (TQC Foundation), the creator and sponsor of the Biletnikoff Award (presented annually to the nation's outstanding college football receiver), is an independent, charitable organization founded in 1994. A number of people established the award and many more have contributed to its development as one of the most prominent in college football. The idea of a college receiver's award was not a novel one, as a number of organizations throughout America considered establishing it. The trophy, presented to each winner, is the most beautiful individual award in college football - it has won several national awards for design excellence and aesthetic appeal.
Over 50 Prominent journalists, commentators, announcers, and former players select the winner through a process audited by a CPA firm. While the TQC Foundation Trustees manage the organization, they have no role in the winner's selection. The award is presented annually on the ESPNU College Football Awards Show.
