RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada women's basketball team signed Chanelle Brennan, a 5'11" guard from Ventura College head coach Jane Albright announced today.

Brennan played two years at Ventura College in Ventura, Calif.  In 2009-10 Brennan started all 35 games and led the team in scoring, averaging 19.4 points per game and 5.6 boards per game.  She was also second on the team in blocks with 26.  In addition, Brennan was an honorable mention honoree for the State Farm WBCA All-America Team and earned first team All-State and Western State Conference MVP honors.

During her first season at Ventura in 2008-09 Brennan led the team in scoring off the bench at 13.5 points per game and set a school record shooting 58.5 percent from the floor. She also earned first team All-WSC honors.

"Chanelle is a prolific scorer and leader who has had success everywhere she has been," head coach Jane Albright said.  "We are excited about what she will add to our program. She is serious about her academics, a great team player and doesn't need to dominate the ball to score."

Brennan, who graduated from Ventura High School in 2008, attended Dayton High School in Dayton, Nev., for the first semester during the 2007-08 school year.  While at Dayton High School she was the third-leading scorer in the state averaging 25.4 points per game and recorded a triple double (30 points, 12 rebounds, 10 steals).

At Ventura High School Brennan was named to the first team All-Channel League and second team All-County as a junior.

Brennan joins Nevada's three signees from November: Arielle Wideman, a 5-9 guard from La Puente Calif., (Bishop Amat HS); Danika Sharp, a 5-9 guard from West Wendover, Nev., (West Wendover HS) and Amber Smith, a 6-0 guard/forward from Moreno Valley, Calif., (Canyon Springs HS).
