DENVER - Nevada's Ryan Hallisey and San Jose State's Madeleine Ziegert have been named the Verizon Western Athletic Conference Golfers of the Week for March 22-28.
Hallisey, a senior from Granite Bay, Calif. (Granite Bay HS), shot all three rounds under par to finish in third place at the Barona Collegiate Cup played in Lakeside, Calif. Hallisey was eight under par (71-69-68-208), four shots behind the leader. His 69 on Thursday afternoon tied for the lowest by any golfer in the field in the second round. The Wolf Pack finished in fourth place out of 16 teams.
Ziegert, a sophomore from Halmstad, Sweden (Allvar Gullstrand), finished in a tie for 14th place at the Mountain View Collegiate in Tucson, Ariz., last week. Ziegert carded an 8-over par 224 (72-79-73) to help her team to a seventh place finish in the 18-team field.
Other men nominated: Stefan Richardson, Idaho; and Tim Madigan, New Mexico State.
Other women nominated: Hayley Young, Boise State.
