San Jose, Calif. - Led by freshman Eugenia Guerra, the University of Nevada women's golf team finished in 14th place at the 2010 Juli Inkster Spartan Invitational. San Jose State hosted the 16-team event at the par 72, 6,223-yard Almaden Country Club, Monday-Tuesday March 8-9.
Nevada turned in a 27-over 315 in Tuesday's final round and finished in 14th place at 87-over 951 (317-319-315). California took the win for the tournament carding 35-over 899 (301-301-297). UC Davis came in second with a three round total of 37-over 901. Host, San Jose State finished third at 39-over 903, a 13-stroke advantage over UC Irvine in fourth at 52-over 916. Oklahoma State rounded out the top five at 53-over 917.
The Wolf Pack's Guerra carded 19-over 235 (79-79-77) to finish in a tie for 45th. Sophomore Jamie Yam followed Guerra with a three round total of 22-over 238 (75-79-84) in a tie for 52nd. Junior Lauren Hernandez carded her best round of the tournament Tuesday at four-over 76 to finish tied for 59th at 24-over 240 (81-83-76), and freshman Louise Yi tied for 63rd at 27-over 243 (84-80-79). Senior Pamela Abreu rounded out the Nevada women in a tie for 74th carding 30-over 246.
Christina Corpus of San Jose State took the individual win by carding one-under 71 in round two to finish with a three round total of one-over 217.
The women's team will next travel to Honolulu, Hawaii for the 2010 Donnis Thompson Invitational hosted by Hawaii March 15-16.
