Fresno, Calif. - After 54 holes of close play, the University of Nevada men's golf team finished in 15th place at the 2010 Fresno State Lexus Classic. Fresno state played host to the 16-team tournament held at San Joaquin C.C., March 8-9.
The Wolf Pack carded 63-over par to finish in 14th at the Fresno State Lexus Classic. BYU and San Diego tied for first carding 20-over 1085, the two teams finished with a two-stroke advantage over third place finisher, Washington at 22-over 1087. Oregon trailed to come in fourth at 23-over 1087 while Michigan rounded out the top five carding 27-over 1092.
Senior Travis Esway led the Pack by carding even par in rounds one and two. Esway finished round three at five-over 77 to come in tied for 33rd individually while senior Ryan Hallisey carded one-under 71 in the first round but followed with three-over 75 and four-over 76 to come in tied for 38th. Seniors Taylor Coffman (77-76-73=226) and Jared Becher (78-77-73=228) both carded one-over 73 in Tuesday's final round to finish in ties for 52nd and 65th. Juniors Andrew Augustyniak (79-77-75) and Scott Smith (80-80-77) rounded out the Nevada men coming in 79th and tied for 93rd.
John Chin of UC-Irvine and Robbie Fillmore of BYU took the individual win in a tie for first carding five-under 208, a three-stroke advantage over Eugene Wong of Oregon in third at two-under 211.
The Wolf Pack will return action March 25-26 at the Barona Collegiate Cup hosted by San Diego, held at the Barona Creek G.C in San Diego.
