RENO, Nev. - Tahnee Robinson led four Nevada players in double figures as the University of Nevada women's basketball team beat Utah State, 77-66, Saturday night at Lawlor Events Center in front of 1,236 fans.
With the win Nevada improved to 14-11 overall (8-3 WAC) while Utah State fell to 12-12 overall (4-7 WAC).
Robinson finished with 24 points while Shavon Moore scored 14 and added a team-high seven rebounds. Johnna Ward added 13 while Nicole Williams scored 11.
Nevada led by nine, 20-11 with 10:15 left in the first half before Utah State went on a 10-0 run to go ahead 21-20 with 6:01 to play in the half. A pair of free throws from Shavon Moore with 2:49 remaining in the half put Nevada up by one, 25-24. Utah State hit a shot with eight seconds left in the half to take a one-point halftime lead, 30-29.
In the second half, Nevada took an 11-point lead, 51-40, on a pair of free throws from N. Williams with 10:26 to play. Utah State pulled to within five, 55-50, with 8:03 to play but never got any closer as the Pack posted the 77-66 win.
Nevada shot 43.3 percent (23-of-53) from the floor while Utah State shot 46.7 percent (21-of-45). Nevada recorded a season-low 10 turnovers in the game. The Pack outrebounded the Aggies 32-27 in the game.
Nevada will host Hawai'i Monday night at 7 p.m. All fans who wear a pink shirt to the game will get in free for Nevada's "Pink Game" as part of the WBCA/Kay Yow Cancer Fund promotion.
