PLAYA DEL CARMEN, Mexico - After finishing the 2010 Caribbean Classic 2-0 with wins over Illinois State and Ball State, the University of Nevada women's basketball team saw two players win all-tournament honors. Nevada's two senior captains collected honors as forward Shavon Moore was named to the all-tournament team and guard Tahnee Robinson was named MVP.
Robinson and Moore both have been honored on an all-tournament team this year at the John Ascuaga's Nugget Classic where Moore was named the tournament MVP. At the Caribbean Classic, Robinson averaged 24.5 points in the two games shooting 47.2 percent, 17-36 from the field. She had a total of seven threes for the tournament, shooting 43.8 percent from beyond the arc. The reigning WAC Player of the Week also had two assists, one block and one steal.
Moore averaged 16.5 points and 8.5 boards over the two games. She picked up her second double-double of the year in the first game against Illinois State. Overall, she shot 58.3 percent, going 14-24 from the field with two blocks and three steals.
No team awards were given as the format was not that of a traditional tournament setup. Nevada was the only team to finish with an undefeated record, but did not play Alabama-Birmingham. UAB and Illinois State each finished 1-1 and Ball state went 0-2. Since each team has one team in the field that it did not play, no champion is officially awarded.
