Pack Travel To Utah State, Host #3 Hawai`i
    The University of Nevada (13-13, 7-6 WAC) volleyball team will play two Western Athletic Conference matches this week traveling to Logan, Utah to play Utah State (18-8, 6-7 WAC) on Friday at 7 p.m. MT then return home to host #3 Hawai`i` (23-1, 12-0 WAC) on Sunday at 6 p.m. PT.  The Sunday match with UH will be the final home match of the season and Wolf Pack seniors Kylie Harrington, Lindsay Baldwin, Nicole Link and Jessica Daum will be honored prior to the match for their contributions to Nevada volleyball.
    USU is one game back of the Pack with a 6-7 WAC record and is 18-8 overall.  Nevada defeated the Aggies at home 3-1, back on Oct. 15 by scores of 26-24, 22-25, 25-19 and 25-16.  Harrington led three players in double figures with 20 kills while Baldwin totaled 16 and Janelle Batista 11.  Harrington posted a double-double as she had 12 digs.  Setter Tatiana Santiago had 58 assists and Link 17 digs.
    Third ranked UH leads the WAC with a perfect 12-0 record and stand at 23-1 on the year.  The Pack fell in three sets to then #5 Hawai`i on Sept. 24 in Honolulu by scores of 25-19, 25-18 and 25-20.  Harrington and Baldwin had eight kills each to lead the way.  Santiago finished with 29 assists and Link totaled 13 digs.


Team Notes:  After winning three in a row the Pack has lost its last two matches...The two home losses last week marked the first back-to-back home losses of the season for Nevada...Nevada (7-6) has slipped to fourth in the WAC standings, one game in front of Friday’s opponent Utah State (6-7)...Nevada won its first true road match of the season downing Boise State 3-1 on Oct. 7...Nevada snapped a season-high five-match losing skid defeating SJSU 3-0 on Sept. 30 which was also the first WAC win of the season...the Pack are 9-4 at home, 3-6 on the road and 1-3 at neutral sites...the Pack won the Nevada (Sept 3-4) and Wolf Pack Invitationals (Sept. 10-11) that were played at home in the Virginia Street Gym...Nevada had its season-high four-match win streak snapped in a 3-1 loss to #24 Arizona, Sept. 3...Nevada was picked to finish seventh in the Preseason Western Athletic Conference Coaches’ Poll...the Pack rank fifth in hitting (.200%), fourth in assists (11.80 aps), sixth in blocking (2.12 bps), ninth in digs (13.18 dps), eighth in opponent hitting percentage (.218%), fourth in kills (14.00 kps) and ninth in service aces (1.03 saps) in the WAC...in WAC play Nevada ranks third in hitting (.243%), third in assists (13.50 aps), sixth in blocking (2.04 bps), fourth in digs (14.00 dps), sixth in opponent hitting percentage (.214%), first in kills (14.54 kps) and are tied for sixth in service aces (1.00 saps).

 

Player Notes:   Senior outside hitter Kylie Harrington had 23 kills in the Pack’s 3-1 win at Fresno State on Oct. 28 and senior middle blocker Lindsay Baldwin had 23 kills in the Pack’s 3-2 loss to Idaho on Nov. 4 which is the high by a Nevada player this season...the 23 kills was a career-high for Baldwin and two off Harrington’s career best of 25...Harrington has led or tied for the team lead in kills in 16-of-26 matches this season...Harrington has produced double-doubles in each of the last two matches vs. Idaho (19k,15d) and vs. BSU (18k, 14d) and leads the team with seven double-doubles...freshman outside hitter Grace Anxo produced a double-double in her first collegiate match vs. Utah Valley on Aug. 27 with 12 kills and 11 digs then added a second vs. FS on Oct. 2 with 15 kills and 11 digs...Anxo led Nevada with a career-high 18 kills in the Wolf Pack’s 3-2 victory at San Jose State, Oct. 30...junior setter Tatiana Santiago has five double-doubles on the season with last one being a 64 assist, 13 dig outing vs. Idaho on Nov. 4...Santiago dished out a career-high 64 assists vs. Idaho on Nov. 4...Santiago became the 10th setter in school history to reach the 1,600 assist mark last week...Harrington recorded her 1,000th career kill vs. UNLV (Sept 7) and senior Lindsay Baldwin posted her 1,000th at Fresno State (Oct. 28) as the duo became the 10th and 11th players in school history to reach the mark...Baldwin (8 ba), Anxo (1 bs, 7 ba) and sophomore middle blocker Janelle Batista (8 ba) all had eight blocks  in the Pack’s 3-2 victory over Notre Dame (Sept. 4)...Baldwin surpassed 400 career total and block assists this season...Baldwin’s nine blocks (1 bs, 8 ba) at UNLV (Sept. 27) and vs. New Mexico State (Oct. 21) are a Nevada season high...junior right side hitter Erin Garvey produced a career-high 15 kills at Boise State on Oct. 7 and her .305 attack percentage in WAC play is ninth in the conference...sophomore Janelle Batista totaled a career-high 11 kills in Nevada’s 3-1 win over Utah State on Oct. 15...Santiago ranks fourth averaging 10.29 assists per set in the conference but in WAC only play is first with 11.82 per set...Harrington is fifth in kills (3.45 kps) and sixth in points (3.90 pps) per set in the conference but in WAC play is  fourth in kills (3.96 kps) and points (4.43 pps)...Baldwin is seventh in hitting at .304 in the conference and fourth in WAC play with a .348 attack percentage...Baldwin ranks seventh in points (4.01 pps) and kills (3.36 kps) in WAC play...Baldwin is 10th in the WAC in points at 3.38 per set and kills at 2.78 per set...Harrington is 10th in WAC action averaging .22 service aces per set...senior libero Nicole Link has led Nevada in digs 21 times this season with a season-high 23 dig effort vs. Northern Arizona (Sept. 3)...10 times Link has posted match-highs in digs...Link ranks sixth in the WAC averaging 3.83 digs per set and in WAC only matches at 3.96 per set...Harrington, Baldwin, Link and Santiago have started all 26 matches this season...reserve setter Dana Holt came off the bench at UNLV (Sept. 27) and nearly lead the Pack to a victory after they trailed 2-0 before falling 3-2 as she topped the team with 23 assists...freshman Brianna Heinen had a career-high 15 digs at Fresno State on Oct. 28.

Harrington Nears 1200 Kills, Link Closes In on 1400 Digs and Santiago Moves Past 1600 Assists
    Senior outside hitter Kylie Harrington is four kills from 1200 in her career, senior libero Nicole Link is seven digs from 1400 and junior setter Tatiana Santiago moved past 1600 assists last week.  The trio is joined by senior middle blocker Lindsay Baldwin as current players ranking in the top 10 in Pack history.
    Harrington’s 1,196 career kills is eighth in school history and three would move her into seventh and 12 jumps her to sixth.  She also ranks sixth with 1,333 points.
    Link ranks third with 1,393 career digs and seven would give her 1400 in her three plus seasons.  She is 40 from moving into second place.
    Santiago recorded her 1600th assist versus Boise State last week and 38 more would move her into ninth on the career list.
    Baldwin ranks in five career categories in school history.  Her 1,373 career points is fourth, .253 attack percentage is eighth, 426 block assists is tied for second, 46 total blocks is tied for ninth and 472 total blocks is third.  She is also the 11th player in school history to record 1,000 kills that came earlier this season and currently has 1,054.

Pack Stumble At Home

                The University of Nevada volleyball team stumbled twice at home last week falling 3-2 on Thursday to Idaho and 3-1 to Boise State on Saturday afternoon.  The loss was the second of the year to UI and the Pack split the two matches this season against BSU with each winning on the road.

                In the match with the Vandals the Pack won set one 25-23 but UI took the second by the same 25-23 score.  A wild third set had the Pack winning 37-35 but they lost the final two sets of the match 25-22 and 15-8.  Lindsay Baldwin finished with a career and match-high 23 kills while Kylie Harrington (19), Erin Garvey (10) and Janelle Batista (10) also reached double figures.  Harrington totaled 15 digs to post her team leading sixth double-double of the season.  Junior setter Tatiana Santiago posted a career-high 64 assists and added 13 digs to record a double-double.  Nicole Link finished with 21 digs in the match.

                BSU won the first two sets of Saturday’s match 25-15 and 25-23 before the Pack rebounded with a 25-19 third set victory only to drop set four 25-22.  Harrington led three Pack players in double figures with 18 kills followed by Erin Garvey with 14 and Lindsay Baldwin’s 10.  For the second consecutive match Harrington had a double-double as she had 14 digs to go along with her 18 kills.  Santiago dished out 39 assists and Link had 18 digs.
