RENO, Nev. - University of Nevada head men’s basketball coach David Carter announced today that transfer Illiwa Baldwin will have one season of eligibility remaining to play for the Wolf Pack. Baldwin transferred to Nevada from Pratt (Kan.) Community College prior to the fall semester and was expected to have two years to play for the Pack.
The NCAA has determined that Baldwin used one season of eligibility when he played from March to July 2007 in an Australian league. He then redshirted as a result of injury at Howard Junior College in Texas during the 2007-08 season. Playing the next two seasons at PCC in 2008-09 and 2009-10 used two additional years of eligibility and leaves him with one year to play for the Pack.
“We are disappointed we will have Illi for just one season but are pleased to have him as a member of the Nevada basketball team,” Carter said. “We expect him to be a solid contributor for us this season and work toward earning his degree from Nevada.”
“Although he has one year to compete for the Wolf Pack we will provide him the resources necessary to complete his degree at the University of Nevada following the completion of his eligibility,” said Dr. Jean Perry, Special Assistant to the President for Athletics Academics & Compliance.
