Box Score LOGAN, Utah - The University of Nevada (13-14, 7-7 WAC) volleyball team fell 3-0 in a Western Athletic Conference match at Utah State (19-8, 7-7 WAC) Friday night at the Smith Spectrum in Logan, Utah. The Wolf Pack lost by scores of 25-23, 25-21 and 25-16 to the Aggies as the two teams split the two regular season matches. The loss was the third in a row for the Pack leaving the team 13-14 overall and 7-7 in WAC play while USU improved to 19-8 and 7-7 in conference action.
The Aggies put together a 3-0 run to extend a one point advantage to four at 21-17. Nevada rallied to close within a point at 24-23 but USU got a kill from Shay Sorensen to end the first set 25-23. Grace Anxo, Kylie Harrington and Lindsay Baldwin all had four kills for the Wolf Pack in set one while setter Tatiana Santiago totaled 14 assists. USU hit .159 in the set and Nevada .096.
USU jumped to a five-point lead at 14-9 and never trailed the rest of set two, on the way to the 25-21 victory and 2-0 set advantage. Harrington led Nevada with five kills in set two and Santiago had 12 assists. Nevada hit .226 and USU .235 in the set.
In set three the Aggies held a 16-8 advantage and were never threatened in winning the set 25-16 to take the match 3-0. Harrington once again led the way with four kills and Santiago had 11 assists. The Pack hit a match-high .241 in the final set but USU was better at .438.
Harrington and Baldwin had 13 and 10 kills respectively to lead the Pack offense in the match. Santiago dished out a match-high 37 assists and libero Nicole Link also had a match-high with 16 digs.
Liz McArthur and Josselyn White finished with 10 kills each for USU. Setter Chelsea Fowles had 32 assists and Laurel Bodily 15 digs.
Nevada hit .170 in the match and USU .264. The Pack held a slim seven to 5.5 blocking advantage with Baldwin and Janelle Batista leading the way with three blocks each. Shantell Durrant had four blocks for the Aggies.
Nevada returns home to host #3 Hawai'i on Sunday at 6 p.m. Pack seniors Baldwin, Link, Harrington and Jessica Daum will be recognized for the contributions to Pack volleyball prior to the match.
