The University of Nevada women's basketball team tallied a dominating exhibition win in a 75-45 defeat of San Francisco State on Sunday in front of 668 fans at Lawlor Events Center. Nevada dominated the Gators in every statistical category and set an impressive pace in their first game of the 2010-11 season.
The Wolf Pack had three players score in double-figures, and 12 different players sore throughout the contest. Senior Tahnee Robinson led the team with 15 points, after a slow start with just six at the half. She shot 3-10 from the field with just one three-pointer but hit a perfect 8-8 from the charity stripe. Fellow senior Marissa Hammond chipped in a double-double scoring 12 points and grabbing 11 rebounds. Redshirt-junior Kate Kevorken rounded out the scoring leaders with 10, and had eight rebounds in her first-ever performance in a Wolf Pack uniform.
Nevada pounded the glass all day taking a rebounding advantage of 49-33 with 20 offensive boards. The Pack scored 31 points off the Gators' 32 turnovers and had 47 scored off the bench. Overall the Pack shot 34.4 percent from the field, 34.8 from beyond the arc and 86.2 from the free throw line.
San Francisco State was led by Kaylaa Davis with nine points and had Dominique Hunter and Candyce Matthews each tallied five rebounds. Combined, five players from the two teams fouled out, with San Francisco State losing three players after a total of 53 fouls were called in the game.
The season opener for the Wolf Pack will come in two weeks also in the friendly confines of Lawlor Events Center. Nevada will host Chico State on Friday, Nov. 12 at 7 p.m. and Pepperdine on Sunday, Nov. 14, at 2 p.m.
