RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada women's soccer team (6-9-3, 1-5-1 WAC) will face the Hawai'i Rainbow Wahine (3-12-3, 1-3-2 WAC) on senior night Friday at 7 p.m inside Mackay Stadium.
"This is an important night for us for many reasons, one being to honor our seniors," head coach Dr. Melissa Price said. "This tremendous group of young women who have provided leadership for our program...they are committed, motivational, and hard working student-athletes who have persevered through a variety of situations."
In addition to the Pack honoring its outgoing student-athletes, there will be a costume contest against the Rainbow Wahine for middle school age fans and under. Free entry to the game will be provided to any student in full costume.
Nevada is coming off a 1-0-1 record over the weekend, falling to San Jose State Friday, October 22 and tying Fresno State Sunday, October 24. The point Nevada earned against the Bulldogs kept them in contention for a WAC Tournament bid.
The Pack is fighting for the sixth and final spot in the year-end tournament and can still secure it with a win over Hawai'i and some help from Fresno State and New Mexico State. Going into the season's final weekend Nevada, Fresno State, Hawai'i and New Mexico State can all still earn a berth in the tournament.
Nevada has been led offensively by Cristen Drummond, one of seven outgoing seniors that will be honored before play begins Friday night in a short ceremony. Drummond leads the team with nine points, 55 shots and 20 shots on goal in 2010.
