Box Score RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada women's soccer team (6-7-2, 1-3 WAC) fell to the Idaho Vandals (13-3, 4-0 WAC) by a final score of 1-0 Friday.
The only goal of the match came from Idaho's Melissa Cantine with less than two minutes to go and the Pack was not able to recover before the final whistle.
"It's frustrating to lose a game with only a minute or two to go," head coach Dr. Melissa Price said.
The Pack pushed the action for most of the first half, outshooting the Vandals 7-2 and hitting a crossbar in the process.
"We had our chances and played very well for most of the game," Price said. "We will take that confidence into our game (against Boise State) Sunday."
The Vandals did not register a shot on goal in the first frame, but came on strong in the second forcing Marie Cove to make six saves in the final period.
Cantine's goal came on a shot from close range, as she snuck the ball past Cove and into the lower right corner of the Nevada net.
Nevada will meet the Boise State Broncos Sunday at 1 p.m. at Mackay Stadium. The match will be the first Breast Cancer Awareness game for the women's soccer team. Live statistics and results will be available at nevadawolfpack.com.
