LAS VEGAS - After two days in the desert, the University of Nevada women's tennis team is representing itself well at the USTA/ITA Regional Championships.

Two student-athletes, Michelle Okremchuk and Emma Verberne, have advanced to the quarterfinals in the main singles draw.  As a team, Okremchuk and Florence De Vrye have also advanced to the fourth round of the main doubles draw.

"So far we are extremely pleased not only with the results, but with the fact that the women are showing signs of great improvement," assistant coach Rafael Lopez said.

Verberne punched her ticket into the quarters with a straight set victory over Kristina Schleich of Colorado.  Okremchuk defeated Callie Craig of BYU 6-0, 6-4 to earn a spot in the fourth round.

The doubles team of Okremchuk and De Vrye advanced with a 9-8 win.

"On top of winning the girls are displaying great fighting behavior on the court," Lopez said.
