Nevada Hosts Utah State Friday At NMSU Sunday
The University of Nevada (9-9, 3-2 WAC) volleyball team will host Utah State (14-4, 2-3 WAC) on Friday at 7 p.m. then travel to Las Cruces, N.M. for match at New Mexico State (10-9, 4-1 WAC) on Sunday at 7 p.m. MT.
USU enters the match in seventh place in the Western Athletic Conference standings with a 2-3 mark and are 14-4 overall. NMSU is second in the conference standings with a 4-1 mark and are 10-9 on the season. NMSU will host Boise State on Thursday and Idaho on Saturday before taking on the Pack Sunday.
Middle School Students Free With ID Friday
Middle school students will be admitted free to Friday’s match with Utah State free when they show their school ID. The Pack hosts the Aggies at 7 p.m. at the Virginia Street Gym.
Sunday’s Game On ESPN3.com
Sunday’s game with New Mexico State can be seen on ESPN3.com at 6 p.m. PT. The match will be the first of consecutive matches between the Aggies and Wolf Pack as the two teams will square off again in Reno on Oct. 21.
Team Notes: Nevada won its first true road match of the season downing Boise State 3-1 on Oct. 7...Nevada snapped a season-high five-game losing skid defeating SJSU 3-0 on Sept. 30 which was also the first WAC win of the season...the Pack are 7-1 at home, 1-5 on the road and 1-3 at neutral sites...the Pack won the Nevada (Sept 3-4) and Wolf Pack Invitationals (Sept. 10-11) that were played at home in the Virginia Street Gym...Nevada had its season-high four-match win streak snapped in a 3-1 loss to #24 Arizona, Sept. 3...Nevada was picked to finish seventh in the Preseason Western Athletic Conference Coaches’ Poll...the Pack rank eighth in hitting (.176%), seventh in assists (10.97 aps), sixth in blocking (2.07 bps), ninth in digs (12.82 dps), eighth in opponent hitting percentage (.214%), sixth in kills (12.07 kps) and seventh in service aces (1.07 saps) in the WAC...in WAC play Nevada ranks third in hitting (.236%), third in assists (13.39 aps), are tied for sixth in blocking (1.75 bps), fourth in digs (14.11 dps), third in opponent hitting percentage (.193%), second in kills (14.50 kps) and sixth in service aces (1.11 saps).
Player Notes: Senior outside hitter Kylie Harrington has led or tied for the team leading in kills in 12-of-18 matches this season...Harrington has four double-doubles vs. Weber State(11 k, 10 d) on Sept. 3, vs. Notre Dame (17 k, 10 d) on Sept. 4, vs. Northern Arizona (13 k, 10 d) Sept. 3 and Oct. 7 at BSU (15 k, 13 d)...freshman outside hitter Grace Anxo produced a double-double in her first collegiate match vs. Utah Valley on Aug. 27 with 12 kills and 11 digs then added a second vs. FS on Oct. 2 with 15 kills and 11 digs...junior setter Tatiana Santiago has the Pack’s other double-double with 22 assists and 10 digs vs. Maryland...Santiago dished out a career-high 59 assists vs. FS on Oct. 2...Santiago became the 10th setter in school history to reach the 1,000 assist mark in her career this season...Harrington recorded her 1,000th career kill vs. UNLV (Sept 7) making her the 10th Nevada player to accomplish the feat...senior middle blocker Lindsay Baldwin (8 ba), Anxo (1 bs, 7 ba) and sophomore middle blocker Janelle Batista (8 ba) all had eight blocks in the Pack’s 3-2 victory over Notre Dame (Sept. 4) ...Baldwin surpassed 400 career total blocks after her 8 blocks (1 bs, 7 ba) vs. Northern Arizona (Sept. 3)...Baldwin hit .667 in the Pack’s 3-0 victory over Weber State (Sept. 3)...Harrington (Sept. 4 vs. ND, Oct. 2 vs. FS, Oct. 9 at Idaho), Baldwin (Oct. 2 vs. FS) and Anxo (Sept. 27 at UNLV) each have 17 kills in a match which is the high by a Nevada player...Baldwin surpassed 900 career kills in the Pack 3-1 win over FS on Oct. 2...Baldwin’s 9 blocks (1 bs, 8 ba) is a Pack season-high...junior right side hitter Erin Garvey produced a career-high 15 kills at Boise State on Oct. 7...Santiago ranks eighth averaging 9.54 assists per set in the conference but in WAC only play is first with 11.83 per set...Harrington is sixth in kills (3.22 kps) and seventh in points (3.69 pps) per set in the conference but in WAC play is tied for fourth in kills (4.00 kps) and third in points (4.61 pps)...Baldwin ranks eighth in hitting (.345) and 10th in kills (3.00 kps) in WAC play...Harrington is third in WAC action averaging .39 service aces per set...senior libero Nicole Link has led Nevada in digs 14 times this season with a season-high 23 dig effort vs. Northern Arizona (Sept. 3)...five times Link has posted match-highs in digs...Link ranks sixth in the WAC averaging 3.75 digs per set and seventh in WAC only matches at 3.89 per set...Harrington, Baldwin, Anxo and Santiago have started all 18 matches this season while Link has started all 18 matches at libero...reserve setter Dana Holt came off the bench at UNLV (Sept. 27) and nearly lead the Pack to a victory after they trailed 2-0 before falling 3-2 as she topped the team with 23 assists...freshman Brianna Heinen had a career-high 12 digs at Idaho on Oct. 9.
Pack Split Road Matches In Idaho
The University of Nevada volleyball team split a pair of road matches in the state of Idaho last week.  The Wolf Pack won a true road match for the first time this season with a 3-1 victory at Boise State then dropped a tough 3-1 match at Idaho.
The Pack lost the first set at BSU 33-31 then won the next three 25-19, 25-19 and 25-21. Erin Garvey and Kylie Harrington tied for match-high honors with 15 kills each while Lindsay Baldwin added 12. Setter Tatiana Santiago had 53 assists and libero Nicole Link 20 digs.
At the University of Idaho, Nevada lost set one 25-16 and took the second set 25-18 before falling 27-25 and 25-16 in the final two sets. Harrington finished with a match-high 17 kills and Santiago had 41 assists. Nicole Link and Brianna Heinen had 14 and 12 digs respectively for the Pack.
Pack Players Climbing Career Lists:
Four Pack players are current ranked in the top 10 in various career lists and continue to climb the charts this season. Senior middle blocker Lindsay Baldwin is fifth in career points with 1,235.5, is third with 395 block assists and fourth with 437 total blocks. Her .243 attack percentage is ninth on the career list. One more solo block will move her into a tie with Carla Busalacchi (1990-93) for 10th. She recorded her 900th career kill in the Pack’s 3-1 victory over FS on Oct. 2 and 60 would give her 1000 for her career.
Senior outside hitter Kylie Harrington is ranked in the Pack career top 10 in two categories. Harrington is sixth with 1,194.5 points and 10th with 1,070 career kills. She became just the 10th Nevada player to reach 1,000 career kills in the UNLV match on Sept. 27.
Another senior Nicole Link just moved into third in career digs with 1,265 moving past Tiffany Neumeier’s (1994-97) 1,243.
Junior setter Tatiana Santiago dished out her 1,000th career assist in the Hawai’i match on Sept. 24 becoming the 10th setter in Pack history to reach the lofty mark. Santiago currently has 1,230 assists in two plus seasons.
