Missouri Ticket Stub Gets You Free Admission To Fresno State Match: Nevada fans may use their football ticket stub from Friday's Missouri football game to watch the Wolf Pack volleyball team take on Fresno State Saturday night at the Virginia Street Gym free of charge.  Just bring your ticket stub to the match and watch the Pack play the Bulldogs in the Western Athletic Conference opener for both schools at 7:00 p.m.

Player Notes

Baldwin Named To Third All-Tournament Squad:  For the third time this season and second week in a row junior middle blocker Lindsay Baldwin has been named to an all-tournament squad being selected to the Stockton Hilton Invitational team last weekend.  Baldwin averaged 2.45 kills, one block and three points per set along with hitting .328 as the Pack went 1-2.  Earlier this season she was selected to the Marriott Courtyard/Fairfield Invitational and Circus Circus Invitational teams.

Nevada Set To Begin WAC Play:  After going 4-9 to start the season the University of Nevada volleyball team will open Western Athletic Conference play this weekend hosting Fresno State at 7:00 p.m. on Saturday night at the Virginia Street Gym.  The Wolf Pack hold a 12-6 advantage over the Bulldogs in WAC play and are 80-52 in conference play since joining the WAC in 2000.

The Pack were picked to finish fifth in the preseason poll while FS was seventh.  Hawai'i, winners of the last 13 WAC titles, is once again the favorite.

Familiar Faces On Bulldog Bench:  When the Pack take on Fresno State on Saturday night there will be two familiar faces on the Bulldog bench in head coach Lauren Netherby-Sewell and assistant coach Alanna Jackson as both played at  Nevada for head coach Devin Scruggs.  Netherby-Sewell played four years for the Pack  from 1996-99, the last last three for coach Scruggs.  Jackson played two seasons for Scruggs from 1997-98 and was an assistant coach at Nevada during the 2007 season prior to joining her former teammate at FS.

Scruggs In Season 13:  University of Nevada head coach Devin Scruggs is in her 13th season as a head coach for the Wolf Pack in 2009 and will be looking to lead the Pack to yet another winning season.  Scruggs has guided the Pack to all five of the schools NCAA Tournament appearances.  In her previous 12 years she posted a career mark of 201-150.  Her 200th victory came last season as the Pack knocked off Utah State 3-1 on Oct. 25. 

Baldwin And Harrington Named To WAC Coaches' Preseason Team:
Nevada placed juniors Lindsay Baldwin and Kylie Harrington on the 2009 WAC Preseason Coaches' team as selected by the nine coaches.  A middle blocker, Baldwin was also selected to the 2008 preseason team and was first-team All-WAC selection as a sophomore.  She led the team averaging 1.14 blocks and 3.54 points per set which ranked fourth and seventh respectively in the conference.  Her 2.71 kills per set was good for second on the squad.  In just two seasons she has etched her name in the Nevada record book seven times.
 Harrington started at outside hitter last season and was selected to the All-WAC second team after leading the team with 2.90 kills per set which was good for eighth in the conference.  She was second on the team averaging 3.24 points per set and third with a 1.90 digs per set average.  On the year she produced a team-high eight double-doubles to tie for fifth most in the WAC.

Link Posts Career-High 30 Digs:  Junior libero Nicole Link posted a career-high with her 30 digs in the Pack's 3-2 win over CSU Bakersfield on Sept. 19.  The 30 dig outing is the fourth best total in school history and top outing in the WAC this season.  Link's previous career-high of 29 occurred last season at Fresno State on Sept. 11 and was then the fourth best total in school history but now ranks fifth.

Team Notes:  Nevada has won its last eight WAC openers and are 8-1 overall in nine seasons in the league...all four of Nevada's wins this season came in five set matches...the Pack played in four tournament to start the season and went 1-2 in all four...Nevada snapped a four-match losing skid downing Houston 3-2 in the final match of the Wildcat Classic on Sept. 5...for the first times since 2003 Nevada won its season opener downing Connecticut 3-2 on Aug. 28...the Pack were picked to finish fifth in the WAC Preseason Coaches' Poll...the Pack rank fifth in hitting (.181%), fifth in assists (10.25 aps), eighth in blocking (1.85 bps), ninth in digs (11.29 dps), sixth in opponent hitting percentage (.217%), sixth in kills (11.20 kps) and seventh in service aces (1.04 saps) in the WAC.

Player Notes:  Junior Kylie Harrington has led the Pack in kills in 11-of-13 matches with five of those either being or tying for match-high honors...11 times Harrington has reached double figures in kills...Harrington tied her career high with 21 kills in Nevada's 3-2 victory over Houston...Harrington tops the Pack with three double-doubles which is third in the WAC, while sophomore setter Tatiana Santiago has Nevada's other two on the season...Senior Sonnie Sei has split time with Santiago at setter this season as the two average 4.43 and 4.56 assists per set respectively...Sei dished out her 1400th career assist in the Pack's 3-0 loss at Sacramento State on Tuesday and her current 1,408 ranks ninth in school history...Junior Lindsay Baldwin ranks eighth in the WAC with a .286 attack percentage and is ninth averaging 3.10 points per set...Harrington ranks fifth in points (3.66 pps) and kills (3.27 kps) in the WAC...junior libero Nicole Link is fifth in the conference averaging 3.49 digs per set...Link's career-high 30 digs vs. CSU Bakersfield (Sept. 19) is the fourth best total in school history and top performance in the WAC this season...Harrington's five service aces vs. UCONN (Aug. 28) is tied for the most by any WAC player this season...Link has led the Pack in digs eight times this season including the last four matches...three times Link has either tied or posted the match high in digs...senior Jorgan Staker came off the bench and totaled 12 kills versus Portland State (Sept. 12) which is one off her career-high...Staker hit .588 in the PSU match which is the high by any Pack player this season...sophomore Erin Garvey established a new career-high with 12 kills versus Sam Houston State (Sept. 12).

Pack Players Climbing Career Lists:  Four Pack players are current ranked in the top 10 in various career lists and continue to climb the charts this season.
Junior Lindsay Baldwin appears on three of the lists, ranking sixth with 840 career points, is fourth with 282 block assists and is fifth with 311 career total blocks.
Fellow junior Kylie Harrington has taken over the number eight spot with her 689.5 career points.
Senior setter Sonnie Sei is ninth with 1,408 career assists while senior right side hitter Jorgan Staker is currently eighth with 210 career block assists.

Yates Injured:  Sophomore middle blocker Brittni Yates injured her ankle in the Pack's match with Eastern Washington on Sept. 4 and missed the seven matches.  Yates status for the WAC opener is unknown at this time.
