About Nevada
Nevada will closeout non-conference play on the road at St. Mary's on Thursday and at UC Davis on Sunday.  Nevada is coming off a 1-1 weekend at the Minnesota Gold Classic, falling to Minnesota 4-1 before beating North Dakota 3-1. The Pack returns seven starters and 14 letterwinners from last season's team that finished 3-14-3 overall (2-4-1/6th/WAC) and made the program's fourth consecutive appearance in the WAC Tournament. Nevada is coached by second-year head coach Jaime Frias.

Scouting the St. Mary's Gaels
All-Time Series: St. Mary's leads the all-time series 2-0.      

Last Meeting: St. Mary's beat Nevada 2-1 in Reno during the 2008 season.      

A Look at St. Mary's: The Gaels are 5-4 this year and are coming off a 4-1 loss at #9 Cal and a 1-0 win over UNLV.  Jess Menzhuber leads the team with 13 points while Daelyn Paul is second with nine.  Keeper Tara Larson has played in eight games and has allowed 12 goals, made 32 saves and has a goals against average of 1.50.  St. Mary's has played three ranked teams this year #18 Colorado, #10 Texas A&M and #9 Cal.                 

Scouting the UC Davis Aggies
All-Time Series: UC Davis leads the all-time series 3-1.    

Last Meeting: UC Davis beat Nevada 2-1 in Reno in 2008.

A Look at UC Davis: The Aggies are 4-2-1 this season and are coming off a 1-0 loss to San Jose State and a 1-0 win over Fresno State.  UC Davis is led by Rochelle VanBuskirk (18 pts) and Marisa Boge (13) points.  Keeper Sarah Peters has started all seven games and has allowed seven goals, has a 1.01 goals against average and has made 18 saves.  The Aggies have outscored their opponents 20-7 this season. 

News and Notes
Nevada recorded a season-high 23 shots in the team's win over North Dakota...all four of Nevada's goals this weekend were unassisted...freshman goalkeeper Dana Moreno made a career-high nine saves against Minnesota.

Erickson Scores Goals in Back-to-Back-to Back Games
Junior Jill Erickson moved into a tie for first in consecutive matches with a point as she scored goals in three consecutive games.  She scored the game winner against Fordham on a header and scored the game winner against Sacramento State off a free kick.  She scored her third consecutive goal in a loss at Minnesota.  For her career Erickson has recorded six goals and is tied for fifth all-time in game-winning goals with three.

Voss, Allen Record First Career Goals
Sophomores Sarah Voss and Annabelle Allen each recorded their first career goals in Nevada's 3-1 win over North Dakota State.  It was also the first career points for Voss while Allen recorded an assist as a freshman in 2008.

Soccer to "Pack the Stands" on October 4
The Nevada soccer team is attempting to break the attendance record during it's game against Utah State Sunday, October 4 at  1 p.m. at Mackay Stadium. The current attendance record is 795 set in 2005.  For the Pack's game on October 4, fans who bring their ticket stub from the Nevada/UNLV football game on Oct. 3 will get into the soccer match for free.  Also, participants from the Susan G Koman Breast Cancer 5K Race will get into the match free with their race number.  After the match the Nevada team and coaching staff will conduct a free clinic for students eighth grade and under.  For more information contact Missy Price at 682-6934.

Two Career Starts + Two Shutouts = WAC Defensive POW
Freshman Dana Moreno, who was named WAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept, became just the second player in program history to record a shutout in her first collegiate start as Nevada blanked Fordham, 1-0.  She joins Caitlin Holmes who recorded a 2-0 win over Sacramento State in her first career start in 2006.  Moreno recorded her second career shutout two days later with a 2-0 win over Sacramento State.  With her two shutouts, Moreno is tied for fifth all-time in career shutouts.  She trails the all-time leader, Megan Tarpenning (2002-05), who recorded eight. 

Cove Moves into Second All-Time in Career Saves
Junior Marie Cove moved into second all-time in career saves.  Cove, who has recorded 25 saves this season, is second all-time with 105 career saves.  Cove trails Megan Tarpenning (2002-05) who recorded 403 career saves for Nevada.

Nevada's Recruiting Class top in the WAC
Nevada soccer team's 11-member incoming class was ranked first in the Western Athletic Conference by topdrawersoccer.com.  Nevada was picked first followed by Idaho, Hawai'i, New Mexico State, Utah State, San Jose State, Boise State and Fresno State.  This is the first honor in program history for Nevada from topdrawersoccer.com.  The Pack's recruiting classes were ranked first in the conference by Soccer Buzz Magazine in 2005, 2006 and 2007.  

Drummond Named to Preseason All-WAC Team
Junior forward Cristen Drummond was named to the 2009 Preseason All-WAC Team. Drummond, who led the team in scoring last season with four goals, was named to the 2008 All-WAC First Team and the WAC All-Tournament Team. Her selection marks the 10th time a Nevada player has earned Preseason All-WAC honors. 

Drummond Cracks Career Top-10 in Points, Goals
Junior Cristen Drummond is ranked in the top-10 in both career points (10th - 21 points) and goals (T6 - nine goals).  She is the only current player to be ranked in those categories.  In 2008 she scored a team-leading four goals and leads the team in points with eight.  As a freshman in 2007, Drummond recorded five goals and three assists during the year and finished second on the team in points with 13.

Smith and Allen Win Second Consecutive National Championship
Junior defender Erin Smith and sophomore midfielder Annabelle Allen helped lead their U19 club team Colorado Rush to its second consecutive U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship. The Rush beat Eclipse Select of Chicago 4-2 in overtime of the championship game on July 26.  With the back-to-back national championships the Rush became the first club in U.S. Youth Soccer history to have two different teams repeat as champions. The Rush was also awarded with the U.S. Youth Soccer Fair Play Award within their division.  Smith and Allen also played on the Rush's 2008 National Championship team in which their U18 Colorado Rush team beat Sting 90 (North Texas) 3-0 for the title in Little Rock, Ark.

2009 Soccer Game-Day Promotions
October 4 - UNLV football ticket - Pack the Stands Game/Entrance to the soccer game is free with a ticket from the UNLV football game on October 3.

October 16 - Big Brothers, Big Sisters Night/BBBS matches will bring their BBBS ID and get into the game for free.

October 18 - Pub Club Day/Pub Club Members will line up with the team for starting lineups.

November 1 - Senior Day & High School Day/TBA.
