About Nevada
Nevada will play its next four games on the road starting with the Minnesota Gold Classic this weekend.  Nevada is coming off a pair of wins over Fordham and Sacramento State. The Pack returns seven starters and 14 letterwinners from last season's team that finished 3-14-3 overall (2-4-1/6th/WAC) and made the program's fourth consecutive appearance in the WAC Tournament. Nevada is coached by second-year head coach Jaime Frias.

Scouting the Minnesota Golden Gophers
All-Time Series: Minnesota leads the all-time series 1-0. 

Last Meeting:
Minnesota beat Nevada 1-0 in Reno during the 2008 season.      

A Look at Minnesota: The Golden Gophers are 4-2-1 this year and are coming off a 1-1 weekend in which they beat UW-Milwaukee 3-2 but fell to Marquette, 1-0.  From August 19-September 13 Minnesota was ranked in the top-25.  Minnesota is led by Katie Bethke who has recorded 10 points this season.  Keeper Pat Parkhill has started all seven games and has allowed five goals, made 21 saves and has a 0.69 GAA.              

Scouting the North Dakota Fighting Sioux
All-Time Series: This will be the first meeting between the two schools.

A Look at North Dakota: North Dakota is 1-4 on the year and is coming off a 6-1 loss at Nebraska and a 2-0 loss in Lincoln against Creighton.  The Fighting Sioux are led by Rachael Loomis and Rhaya Ballon who each have five points on the year.  Keeper Monica Stierman has started two games and has allowed four goals and has a 1.80 GAA while Lauren Sera has started three games and has allowed 10 goals and has a 3.33 GAA.    

News and Notes
Nevada recorded a season-high 10 shots in the team's win over Fordham...junior transfer Kesia Broome recorded two assists this weekend including assisting on the game-winning goal on Friday against Fordham...freshman goalkeeper Dana Moreno made a career-high five saves against Fordham...this past weekend Nevada recorded its first back-to-back wins since Sept. 28 and 30 of 2007...the last time Nevada won three in a row was from September 30 to October 5, 2007.

Two Career Starts + Two Shutouts = WAC Defensive POW
Freshman Dana Moreno, who was named WAC Defensive Player of the Week, became just the second player in program history to record a shutout in her first collegiate start as Nevada blanked Fordham, 1-0.  She joins Caitlin Holmes who recorded a 2-0 win over Sacramento State in her first career start in 2006.  Moreno recorded her second career shutout two days later with a 2-0 win over Sacramento State.  With her two shutouts, Moreno is tied for fifth all-time in career shutouts.  She trails the all-time leader, Megan Tarpenning (2002-05), who recorded eight. 

Erickson Scores Game Winners in Back-to-Back Games
Junior Jill Erickson scored the game winner against Fordham on a header and scored the game winner against Sacramento State off a free kick.  She recorded five shots over the weekend and leads the team with two goals and four points.  For her career she has recorded five goals and is tied for fifth all-time in game-winning goals with three.  

Seven Games, Seven Different Lineups
Nevada has used a different lineup in each of its seven games this season.  Four student-athletes, Kesiha Broome, Erin Smith, Jill Erickson and Annabelle Allen, have started all seven games.

Cove Moves into Second All-Time in Career Saves
Junior Marie Cove moved into second all-time in career saves.  Cove, who has recorded 25 saves this season, is second all-time with 105 career saves.  Cove trails Megan Tarpenning (2002-05) who recorded 403 career saves for Nevada.

Nevada's Recruiting Class Top in the WAC
Nevada soccer team's 11-member incoming class was ranked first in the Western Athletic Conference by topdrawersoccer.com.  Nevada was picked first followed by Idaho, Hawai'i, New Mexico State, Utah State, San Jose State, Boise State and Fresno State.  This is the first honor in program history for Nevada from topdrawersoccer.com.  The Pack's recruiting classes were ranked first in the conference by Soccer Buzz Magazine in 2005, 2006 and 2007.  

2009 Roster is the Largest Roster in Program History
Nevada's 25-player roster is the largest roster in school history passing the 2004 squad which had 22 players.  This season's team consists of three seniors, seven juniors, six sophomores and nine freshmen.

Drummond Named to Preseason All-WAC Team
Junior forward Cristen Drummond was named to the 2009 Preseason All-WAC Team. Drummond, who led the team in scoring last season with four goals, was named to the 2008 All-WAC First Team and the WAC All-Tournament Team. Her selection marks the 10th time a Nevada player has earned Preseason All-WAC honors. 

Nevada Picked Fifth in WAC Preseason Poll
As a team, the Pack was picked to finish fifth (39 points) in the nine-team league by the WAC head coaches. Utah State was picked first followed by Hawai'i, Fresno State and Boise State.

Drummond Cracks Career Top-10 in Points, Goals
Junior Cristen Drummond is ranked in the top-10 in both career points (10th - 21 points) and goals (T6 - nine goals).  She is the only current player to be ranked in those categories.  In 2008 she scored a team-leading four goals and leads the team in points with eight.  As a freshman in 2007, Drummond recorded five goals and three assists during the year and finished second on the team in points with 13.

Smith and Allen Win Second Consecutive National Championship
Junior defender Erin Smith and sophomore midfielder Annabelle Allen helped lead their U19 club team Colorado Rush to its second consecutive U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship. The Rush beat Eclipse Select of Chicago 4-2 in overtime of the championship game on July 26.  With the back-to-back national championships the Rush became the first club in U.S. Youth Soccer history to have two different teams repeat as champions. The Rush was also awarded with the U.S. Youth Soccer Fair Play Award within their division.  Smith and Allen also played on the Rush's 2008 National Championship team in which their U18 Colorado Rush team beat Sting 90 (North Texas) 3-0 for the title in Little Rock, Ark.

2009 Soccer Game-Day Promotions
October 4 - UNLV football ticket/Entrance to the soccer game is free with a ticket from the UNLV football game on October 3.
October 16 - Big Brothers, Big Sisters Night/BBBS matches will bring their BBBS ID and get into the game for free.
October 18 - Pub Club Day/Pub Club Members will line up with the team for starting lineups.
November 1 - Senior Day & High School Day/TBA.
