Reno, Nev. - The University of Nevada (2-5) volleyball team fell 3-1 to UC Davis (6-2) in the final match of day one of the Circus Circus Invitational by scores of 20-25, 23-25, 25-23 and 12-25 at the Virginia Street Gym, Friday night.  The loss drops the Wolf Pack to 2-5 on the season while the Aggies improved to 6-2.

There were eight ties and four lead changes before the Aggies won set one by a score of 25-20.  The last tie occurred at 19-19 before UCD put together a 5-1 run to take the first set.  UCD hit .357 in set one while the Pack hit .143.

Set two was also close but the Aggies scored the final two points to break a 23-23 tie in winning 25-23.  With the victory UCD took a commanding 2-0 advantage into the break.  The Aggies hit .200 compared to .121 for Nevada.

Trailing 2-0 the Pack would need to win set three to extend the match.  The Aggies led early but Nevada rallied and scored the final two points of the set to win 25-23.  Nevada had its best hitting set of the match at .191 and held UCD to its worst of the match at .118.

The Aggies held a 10-point advantage at 20-10 on the way to the 25-12 set four victory and 3-1 match win.  Nevada hit .000 and UCD an outstanding .423 in the final set.

Junior Kylie Harrington led the Pack with 18 kills on the night which marked the sixth time in seven matches this season she has led the squad in kills.  Sophomore setter Tatiana Santiago posted her first double-double of the season with 25 assists and 12 digs.  Libero Nicole Link also reached double figures with her 10 digs.

Melanie Adams and Kayla Varney topped the Aggies with 17 and 13 kills respectively.  Varney added 10 digs to record a double-double in the match.  Setter Carson Lowden dished out a match-high 43 assists on the night.  Libero Avreeta Singh finished with a match-high 15 digs.

For the match Nevada hit .112 and UCD .260.  The Aggies won the blocking battled 14 to 12.5.  Baldwin topped the Pack with five blocks while Allison Whitson, Betsy Sedlak and Katie Denny all had seven for the Aggies.

Nevada plays Sam Houston State University at noon tomorrow and Portland State University at 7:00 p.m. to close out the invitational.  In today's first match Portland State swept SHSU 3-0.  Saturday's 10:00 a.m. match has PSU taking on UCD.  The 5:00 p.m. match features SHSU versus the Aggies.
