RENO, Nev. – The University of Nevada soccer team will open its 2009 preseason camp on Wednesday morning at Mackay Stadium.

The team will report on Tuesday and will attend a series of team meetings before its first official practice Wednesday morning at 8 a.m.  The team will open camp on Wednesday with the first part of the fitness test followed by technical training.  The evening session on Wednesday will be an 11 v. 11 game.

“We are extremely excited to get our training camp going,” second-year head coach Jaime Frias said.  “The returners have worked very hard to prepare for the fall and are anxious to meet and play with our incoming players.  It will be fun to watch the development of this team as we prepare for our first game.”

The team will have two-a-day practices before Nevada opens the regular season on August 21 at Cal.  The Pack’s regular-season home opener will be on August 28 against UC Santa Barbara.

The Pack returns seven starters and 14 letterwinners from its 2008 squad that made the programs fourth consecutive appearance in the WAC Tournament.  Nevada’s 26-player roster also includes 12 newcomers.
