About Nevada
Nevada opens its 2009 season with a 25-player roster including 11 newcomers.  The Pack returns seven starters and 14 letterwinners from last season's team that finished 3-14-3 overall (2-4-1/6th/WAC)and made the program's fourth consecutive appearance in the WAC Tournament where the team advanced to the semifinals for the third time in program history.  Nevada is coached by second-year head coach Jaime Frias.

Drummond Named to Preseason All-WAX Team
Junior forward Cristen Drummond was named to the 2009 Preseason All-WAC Team. Drummond, who led the team in scoring last season with four goals, was named to the 2008 All-WAC First Team and the WAC All-Tournament Team. Her selection marks the 10th time a Nevada player has earned Preseason All-WAC honors. 

Nevada Picked Fifth in WAC Preseason Poll
As a team, the Pack was picked to finish fifth (39 points) in the nine-team league by the WAC head coaches. Utah State was picked first followed by Hawai'i, Fresno State and Boise State.

2009 Roster is the Largest Roster in Program History
Nevada's 25-player roster is the largest roster in school history passing the 2004 squad which had 22 players.  This season's team consists of three seniors, seven juniors, six sophomores and nine freshmen. 

Nevada's Recruiting Class Top in the WAC
Nevada soccer team's 11-member incoming class was ranked first in the Western Athletic Conference by topdrawersoccer.com.  Nevada was picked first followed by Idaho, Hawai'i, New Mexico State, Utah State, San Jose State, Boise State and Fresno State.  This is the first honor in program history for Nevada from topdrawersoccer.com.  The Pack's recruiting classes were ranked first in the conference by Soccer Buzz Magazine in 2005, 2006 and 2007.

Drummond Cracks Career Top-10 in Points, Goals
Junior Cristen Drummond is ranked in the top-10 in both career points (10th - 21 points) and goals (T6 - nine goals).  She is the only current player to be ranked in those categories.  In 2008 she scored a team-leading four goals and leads the team in points with eight.  As a freshman in 2007, Drummond recorded five goals and three assists during the year and finished second on the team in points with 13. 

Nevada All-Time in Season Openers
Nevada is 1-7-1 all-time in season opening games.  Last season the Pack fell to UC Santa Barbara at home 4-0.  The Pack won its season-opening games in 2006 with a 2-0 road win at Sacramento State and Nevada recorded a 1-1 (2OT) tie at home against UC Riverside in 2005.

A Look at Cal: Cal opened the 2009 season with a 3-0 exhibition game against Pacific on Saturday.  Cal finished the 10-8-1 overall and 3-5-1 in the Pac-10.  The Bears are led by junior forward Alex Morgan who is a candidate for the Missouri Athletic Club's Hermann Trophy Watch list.  Last season Morgan led the team in points (23) and goals (9).  The Bears are coached by Neil McGuire who is in his third season.      

Smith and Allen Win Second Consecutive National Championship
Junior defender Erin Smith and sophomore midfielder Annabelle Allen helped lead their U19 club team Colorado Rush to its second consecutive U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship. The Rush beat Eclipse Select of Chicago 4-2 in overtime of the championship game on July 26.  With the back-to-back national championships the Rush became the first club in U.S. Youth Soccer history to have two different teams repeat as champions. The Rush was also awarded with the U.S. Youth Soccer Fair Play Award within their division.  Smith and Allen also played on the Rush's 2008 National Championship team in which their U18 Colorado Rush team beat Sting 90 (North Texas) 3-0 for the title in Little Rock, Ark. 

2009 Soccer Game-day Promotions
August 28 - Camp Day/All 2009 campers get into the game for free by wearing their camp t-shirt.
August 30 - Sparks AYSO Day/Sparks AYSO players get into the game for free by wearing their Sparks AYSO jersey.
September 11 - Blue Crew/ASUN Night.
September 13 - $1 day/ All tickets for the game are just $1 each.
October 4 - UNLV football ticket/Entrance to the soccer game is free with a ticket from the UNLV football game on October 3.
October 16 - Big Brothers, Big Sisters Night/BBBS matches will bring their BBBS ID and get into the game for free.
October 18 - Pub Club Day/Pub Club Members will line up with the team for starting lineups.
November 1 - Senior Day & High School Day/TBA.

Upcoming Schedule
Nevada will host UC Santa Barbara and UC Irvine on August 28 and 30.  The Pack will host UC Santa Barbara on the 28 at 7 p.m. and will take on UC Irvine on Sunday at 1 p.m.
