On the eve of another scrimmage (Tuesday's scrimmage and all from here on out are closed to the public), the Wolf Pack went through another set of two-a-day practices.

Here's coach Chris Ault talking to the media before the afternoon practice, about the quarterbacks and about what's on tap this week:

CAMPER OF THE DAY: Sophomore linebacker James-Michael Johnson.

Johnson had one of the best season of all Nevada freshmen last season and is looking to elevate his game this season. The goal for Johnson during camp is to produce at a consistent level, according to associate head coach Ken Wilson.

"James has the mental makeup and the physical ability to be one of the top guys to play here," Wilson said. "We've seen his potential but he's got to work on his consistency. He has a lot of highs and then he drops down a bit and we need him at that consistent level. He needs to mature into that kind of player.

The projected starter at the SAM linebacker spot had 49 tackles last year, including a whopping 12.5 for a loss.

"James-Michael had a really good practice this morning and he keeps showing signs of being that guy we know he can be," Wilson said.

NEWS OF THE DAY: Junior quarterback Colin Kaepernick was named to the Watch List for the Manning Award, given annually after the bowl season to the nation's top quarterback. Kaepernick is now on the Watch List for three awards -- the Manning, the Davey O'Brien (quarterback) and the Maxwell Award (outstanding player). Here is Kaepernick talking with the media today:
