WOLF PACK CONCLUDES REGULAR SEASON THIS SATURDAY
Coming off a 4-3 victory over the University of San Francisco last Saturday, the No. 63 Nevada Wolf Pack will conclude its regular season Saturday in a doubleheader in Logan, Utah. At 9 a.m. MT, the Wolf Pack will face Louisiana Tech and at 1 p.m. MT the regular season ends with Utah State. The Wolf Pack has a chance to clinch the third seed of the Western Athletic Conference Championships by winning both matches this weekend. The WAC Championships will take place next week in Honolulu, Hawaii.

NEVADA IN THE RANKINGS
While Nevada was off on the week of March 16, the Intercollegiate Tennis Association ranked the Wolf Pack No. 54 in the nation. It was the highest ranking reached under head coach Sylvain Malroux. Nevada is currently ranked No. 63 in the nation. The Wolf Pack has faced 11 teams in the ITA rankings.

NEVADA’S OPPONENTS RANKED
Nevada completed the toughest part of its schedule. Eleven opponents were ranked in the Intercollegiate Tennis Association. Nevada went 3-8 against ranked opponents.

ABOUT LOUISIANA TECH
The Lady Techsters were swept in both WAC matches last weekend, losing 7-0 to both No. 15 Fresno State and New Mexico State. La Tech’s Laura Rodriguez picked up a win against Fresno State in No. 5 singleswhile Maartje de Wit forced a tiebreaker and was close to winning her second conference match of the season in the No. 3 spot against New Mexico State. The Lady Techster’s concludes its regular season this weekend in Logan, Utah facing Nevada, San Jose State and host Utah State.

ABOUT UTAH STATE
Utah State is coming off a back-to-back conference loss last weekend, droping 6-1 to New Mexico State and then being shut out 7-0 to No. 15 Fresno State. In its match against New Mexico State, Monica Abella won the Aggies only point, winning the No. 3 singles position over New Mexico State’s Stephanie Eusebe. While in Logan, Utah, the Aggies will also be hosting Louisiana Tech and San Jose State.

NO. 2 SINGLES STRONG FOR THE PACK
In the No. 2 singles position, Nevada is 13-4 with a percentage of .765. It is the strongest singles position for the Wolf Pack. Only two players have played in the No. 2 position, sophomore Florence De Vrye, who 13-4 in that position and senior Caroline Bailly has a win in the only appearance she’s made.

WOLF PACK ABOVE .500 IN DUAL SEASON
Nevada got its dual record above the .500 mark in singles and doubles. In combined singles, Nevada is 54-44 with a percentage of .551 and in combined doubles, it is 27-27 with a percentage of .500.  Nevada is also above .500 in Nos. 1, 2, 3 and 4 singles and Nos. 2 and 3 doubles.

DE VRYE SETS CAREER-HIGH
Sophomore Florence De Vrye, who is 15-11 overall in singles this season, set her career-high wins record in that category. In her freshman year, the Western Athletic Conference Freshman of the Year was 12-14 overall in singles.

OGATA SETS CAREER-HIGH
Sophomore Lais Ogata passed her freshman record of seven wins in singles competition. Ogata is 10-15 overall in singles this season. Last season, Ogata was 7-12 overall.

BAILLY AND MIZYUK EXTENDING THE ALL-TIME DOUBLES RECORD
Senior Caroline Bailly and junior Maria Mizyuk, Nevada’s all-time career doubles wins leader, picked up three wins in the No. 1 doubles position to extend their record to 48. Prior to the start of the season, Bailly and Mizyuk were ranked 26th by the Intercollegiate Tennis Association in the preseason doubles rankings, the highest ranking the duo reached together.

BAILLY CONTINUES CLIMBING TO THE TOP
After defeating Idaho’s Maria Perevoshchikova on April 10, senior Caroline Bailly extended her all-time career singles wins to 71. Bailly sits in second in Nevada’s all-time career singles wins  list. Next on Bailly’s list is Tracy King (1988-92), who holds the number one spot with 83 wins.

MIZYUK REWRITING THE SINGLES BOOK
After defeating San Francisco’s Julia Wartenburger in the No. 3 singles spot on April 11, junior Maria Mizyuk picked up her 52nd career win in singles competition. Mizyuk is the fifth player in team history to reach that milestone and she is also now third in the all-time career wins column.

ABOUT THE WAC CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Western Athletic Conference men’s and women’s tennis championships will be held April 23-26 at the University of Hawai`i’s Tennis Complex at Honolulu, Hawai`i. UP NEXT FOR THE PACK
Following the Wolf Pack’s match against Utah State, Nevada will travel to Honolulu, Hawaii for the Western Athletic Conference Championships on April 23-26. Held at the University of Hawai`i’s Tennis Complex, the winner of the tournament will receive an automatic bid to the NCAA Championships.
