DENVER - Nevada’s Caroline Bailly has been named Western Athletic Conference Women’s Tennis Players of the Week for March 2-8.
Bailly, a senior from Liege, Belgium (A.R.M. Bevoets), earned her first win against a ranked opponent this weekend after a 7-6, 3-2 (retired) defeat of No. 70 Pichittra Thongdach of No. 25 Boise State. Bailly also defeated Kristina Nedeltcheva 4-6, 7-6 (10-5) in Nevada’s 4-3 loss to No. 69 UNLV. Both her wins came at the No. 1 position, where she is currently on a three-match winning streak.
Other female nominees included: Boise State’s Laura Baum, Utah State’s Hailey Swenson and San Jose State’s Olivia Marshall.
“She had a fantastic weekend,” Nevada head coach Sylvain Malroux said. “Even being a senior, she keeps improving. It was a matter of time for her to break through. She really deserved the award this week.”
