Nevada at Hawai’i
February 14, 2009
Game Notes:
- With the 47-46 win at Hawai’i on Saturday night, Nevada improved to 15-10 overall on the season and 8-4 in WAC play. The Wolf Pack also improved to 5-1 on the road in conference play this season.
- The Wolf Pack also won for the 34th time in its last 53 games away from home and improved to 31-9 in WAC road games since the start of the 2004-05 campaign.
- Sophomore Armon Johnson led the team with 25 points, including the game-winning shot with 7.6 seconds left. It marked the ninth time this year that Johnson has led the team in scoring and his seventh game of the year with at least 20 points. He was 8-of-15 from the field and made 8-of-9 free throw attempts in the game.
- Freshman Luke Babbitt was the only other Wolf Pack player in double figures for scoring with 23 points.
- Nevada’s 47 points were a season low and were the fewest points for the Wolf Pack since a 58-40 loss at Hawai’i on Dec. 29, 2001.
- Nevada improved to 5-0 on the year when holding its opponent to 60 points or less and has not won 57 of its last 59 games when accomplishing that feat.
- The Wolf Pack was outrebounded for the first time in 14 games with Hawai’i claiming the 35-30 advantage.
- Freshman Dario Hunt led the team and tied his career high with nine rebounds. It marked the fourth time this year that he has paced the team in rebounding and the third consecutive game.
- Hunt also blocked three shots in the game, and with 58 blocks this year, he took over sole possession of third on Nevada’s single-season blocks chart.
- Nevada returns to action on Friday, Feb. 20, taking on Virginia Commonwealth at Lawlor Events Center in the ESPNU BracketBusters. That game will tip off at 6:02 p.m. Pacific Time and will be televised nationally by ESPNU. It can also be heard on Nevada’s radio flagship, ESPN 630 AM, and its radio affiliates throughout the state with Ryan Radtke calling the action.
