About this Game
   Nevada is coming off a 50-38 win over Weber State Monday night at Lawlor Events Center.  The Pack improved to 3-1 overall and 3-0 at home.  Nevada will host the annual Nugget Classic on Friday and Saturday hosting Columbia in the first game at 2 p.m.  Nevada will face either Iowa or West Virginia in a game on Saturday.  The Pack has won the last two Nugget Classic titles and has won three overall. 

About the Nevada Wolf Pack
   Nevada is coming off a 50-38 win at home over Weber State on Monday night.  Johnna Ward scored 13 points while Marissa Hammond added 10.  Shavon Moore and Kayla Williams each added 10 rebounds while Marianne Lombardi added nine boards.   
    As a team, the Pack is shooting 36.0 percent from the floor, 26.5 from three-point range and 67.9 percent from the free throw line.  Nevada is averaging 56.0 points per game while its opponents are averaging 46.2 points per game. The Pack is outrebounding its opponents by an average of 5.3 boards per game and Nevada is averaging 14.0 steals per game.    
   The Pack is led in scoring by Ward who is averaging 15.0 points per game and Marissa Hammond who is averaging 8.5 points per game.  Kayla Williams leads the team in rebounding averaging 7.3 boards per game while Shavon Moore is averaging 5.8 rebounds per game.
    The Wolf Pack is coached by second-year head coach Jane Albright who has a 21-15 record at Nevada.

Nugget Classic Promotions
   There are two promotions set for the Nugget Classic.  "Faith and Family Weekend"- fans who bring their church bulletin to the game will get in free along with four family members.  Also, fans in middle school who wear their team basketball jersey to the games will get in free.  Free attendance is for the player only and teams do not have to come as a group.

About Columbia
   The Columbia Lions are 3-1 this season and are coming off a 69-66 win over Manhattan.  The Lions have also recorded wins over Sacred Heart and Long Island and lost in overtime to Oakland.
   Columbia is led by Judie Lomax (15.3 ppg) who leads three Lions who are averaging in double digits in scoring.  Lomax also leads the team in rebounds averaging 14.0 boards per game.
   As a team the Lions are shooting 42.7 percent from the floor, 30.7 percent from three point range and 55.4 percent from the free throw line. 
   The Lions are coached by Paul Nixon who is in his fifth season at Columbia.  Nixon was an assistant coach at Nevada from 1997-1999.

About Iowa
   The Iowa Hawkeyes are 4-1 this season and beat William and Mary Tuesday night, 78-54.  Iowa has also beaten Santa Clara, Illinois State and Northern Iowa and fell to Kansas.
   Kachine Alexander (21.0 ppg) leads four players who are averaging double digits in scoring.  She also leads the team in rebounding averaging 15.7 boards per game.  
   As a team Iowa is shooting 41.3 percent from the floor, 32.4 percent from three point range and 74.1 percent from the free throw line.
   The Hawkeyes are coached by Lisa Bluder who is in her 10th season at Iowa.

About West Virginia
   West Virginia is 3-1 this season and is receiving votes in the ESPN/USA Today Coaches' poll.  The Mountaineers beat Duquesne Tuesday night, 73-52.  They have also beaten Towson and Marist and fell at Ohio State.
    West Virginia is led in scoring by Liz Repella who is averaging 17.3 points per game.  Korinne Campbell leads the team in rebounding averaging 10.3 rebounds per game. 
   As a team, the Mountaineers are shooting 43.0 percent from the floor, 38.1 percent from three point range and 60.8 percent from the free throw line. 
   West Virginia is coached by Mike Carey who is in his ninth season.   

Nevada News and Notes
- Junior Nicole Williams made her first career start Monday night against Weber State.  She recorded four points and two rebounds in the game.  

- Nevada opened the year not trailing in a game for the first 97 minutes of the season.  The Pack has not trailed at any point in three of its four games this season.

- Kayla Williams recorded a career-high 10 rebounds against Weber State.  Her previous career high was nine boards set this season against UCSB.

- Johnna Ward has scored in double figures in all four games this season. 

- Through three games this year the Pack is outscoring its opponents 224-185.  Nevada is outrebounding its opponents by an average of 5.3 rebounds per game.

- Only two Pack players have recorded a three-point field goal this season.   Johnna Ward leads the team with eight made while Nicole Williams has recorded one. 

- Marissa Hammond leads the team in free throws attempted (16) while Nicole Williams leads the team in free throws made with 11. 

- Nevada's bench has outscored its opponents bench in each of the Pack's four games this season. 

- Nevada leads the conference in steals with 56.

Playing with the Lead
Nevada has played three full games in which is has never trailed this season against Cal State Monterey Bay, UC Santa Barbara and Weber State.  The only game the Pack trailed in this year was at St. Mary's. 

Ward Records 500th Career Point at St. Mary's
Junior Johnna Ward entered the Nov. 20 game at St. Mary's with 479 career points needing 21 points to hit 500 for her career.  She scored a season-high 21 points, one off her career high of 22, to hit the 500 career point mark.  She is the active career leader and is the 15th player in program history to record at least 500 career points.  She recorded 200 points as a freshman, 253 points as a sophomore and in three games this year she has recorded 60 points for 513 points to date this year. 

The Pack Successful at Home
Since the beginning of the 2007-08 season, Nevada has recorded a 28-7 record at Lawlor Events Center.  Last season the Pack finished the year 13-4 at home while the team recorded a 12-3 record at Lawlor Events Center during the 2007-08 season.  This season Nevada is 3-0 at Lawlor Events Center. 

Last Time Out 
     RENO, Nev. -- Johnna Ward scored 13 points and Marissa Hammond added 10 as the University of Nevada women's basketball team downed Weber State, 50-38, Monday night at Lawlor Events Center in front of 629 fans.
   The Pack opened the game with a 7-0 run and held the Wildcats scoreless until the 16:34 mark of the first half.  Nevada extended its lead to 10 points, 17-7, on a pair of free throws by Brittany Woodard with 10:16 remaining in the half.  A layup by Kayla Williams with 1:45 left in the half put the Pack up 14, 25,-11, and Nevada took a 27-17 lead into halftime.
   In the second half, the Wildcats cut the Pack's lead to four points with 15:14 left in the game before Nevada pushed its lead back up to nine, 38-39, on a jumper by Ward with 10:35 left.
   A layup by Hammond with 3:23 left gave Nevada its largest lead of the game, 49-33, as the Pack went on to post the 50-38 win.

Upcoming Schedule
Nevada will host Sacramento State on Wednesday, December 2 at noon for the "Partner with the Pack" game.  All elementary and middle school teachers and students can attend the December 2 game for free. Educational packets will be given to students for them to complete as the game goes on.  Students will also have a chance to win one of five go-peds that will be given away during the game.
