“A Weekend With The Wolf Pack”
This weekend promises to be one of the most exciting and action-packed weekends in recent history for the Nevada Wolf Pack. And with so many athletic events on tap, the University of Nevada is inviting all fans to come and spend a day on campus with the Wolf Pack.
- The weekend begins Friday evening at Lawlor Events Center as the women’s basketball team, under the direction of second-year head coach Jane Albright, opens up the 2009-10 season with a home game against Cal State Monterey Bay. Tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m.
- On Saturday, the Western Athletic Conference-leading Nevada football team will host Fresno State in a pivotal conference showdown. The game kicks off at 1:05 p.m. and it’s Senior Day as 15 Wolf Pack players will be playing their final game at Mackay Stadium. The game is also being billed as Heroes Day as the school will be honoring local military, law enforcement and firefighting personnel. A special military flyover by a CH-47 Chinook helicopter is planned and ticket discounts are available for our local “Heroes.”
Ticket prices start at $19 with discounts available for children, seniors, groups and advanced-purchase. For more information, call 348-PACK. Those who purchase tickets for the football game will have the opportunity for free and reduced-priced tickets for the volleyball and men’s basketball games, respectively, later on Saturday.
- At 5 p.m., the Wolf Pack volleyball team continues its charge towards the WAC Tournament with its final home match of the season against Louisiana Tech. Admission is free by presenting your football ticket stub at the entrance. It is also Senior Day for the volleyball team as three standouts will be playing their final home match of the season.
- At 7 p.m., men’s basketball coach David Carter will make his debut as the Wolf Pack opens the 2009-10 campaign against Montana State. The Wolf Pack is picked to finish second in the WAC this season and returns preseason All-WAC players Armon Johnson and Luke Babbitt. Those holding a ticket stub to Saturday’s football game can redeem that for a $5 upper-concourse ticket to the men’s basketball game (Lawlor Ticket Office only, beginning at 3 p.m. on Saturday; while supplies last).
- “Rally at the Crowley” This event begins at 3:30 p.m. at the Joe Crowley Student Union on campus. There will be a live acoustic band inside Cantina del Lobo, a Disney movie in the theater and entertainment in the food court. Food specials will be available as well as raffles for men’s basketball tickets, restaurant meals, T-shirts and sweatshirts (Raffle tickets are free if you show a ticket for any of Saturday’s athletic events and a food receipt from any student union vendor).
Come spend A Weekend With The Wolf Pack and cheer on the Silver and Blue!
