About Nevada
Nevada opened WAC play with a 1-0 win at home over Utah State.  The Pack will travel to Idaho for a 3 p.m. game on Friday and will play at Boise State on Sunday at Noon PT.  The Pack returns seven starters and 14 letterwinners from last season's team that finished 3-14-3 overall (2-4-1/6th/WAC) and made the program's fourth consecutive appearance in the WAC Tournament. Nevada is coached by second-year head coach Jaime Frias.

Scouting the Idaho Vandals
All-Time Series: Nevada leads the all-time series, 4-2.      

Last Meeting: Nevada beat Idaho 2-0 last season in Reno.      

A Look at Idaho: The Vandals are 8-5 overall and 1-1 in WAC play. They fell to New Mexico 3-2 on Sunday on the road.  Idaho is led by Sari Morrison and Chelsea Small who each have 13 points on the year.  Keeper Liz Boyden has played in 12 games and has allowed 12 goals and made 57 saves.

All-Time Series: Boise State leads the all-time series, 1-6-1.      

Last Meeting: Nevada fell to Boise State at home 2-0 in 2008.      

A Look at Boise State: The Broncos are 6-4-4 overall and 1-1 in conference.  Boise State is coming off a 1-0 loss at New Mexico State and a 1-0 win at LA Tech.  Shannon Saxton leads the team in points (11) and goals (five) while Erica Parks is second with 10 points and four goals.  Keeper Liz Ruiz has started seven games and played in eight. She has allowed seven goals and has made 42 saves.  Goalkeeper Jennifer Burns has started and played in six games and has allowed four goals while making 18 saves.  

News and Notes
Nevada's 1-0 shutout over Utah State was the Pack's third shutout of the year...keeper Dana Moreno and Marie Cove combine for the shutout...Nevada's win over Utah State marked the first time this year for Nevada that the Pack took fewer shots and than an opponent (14-4) but won the game....sophomore Annabelle Allen is 2-for-2 in penalty kicks this season...Junior Jill Erickson leads the team in points (9) and goals (4)...Annabelle Allen, Kesia Broome and Natalie Ratnavira are tied for second on the team in points with four each.

Nevada Opens WAC Play with Win for Second Straight Year
Nevada's WAC-opening win on Sunday against Utah State marked the second straight season that Nevada has opened WAC play with a win.  The Pack also beat Hawai'i 1-0 in Reno to open the 2008 conference season.

Frias Sets Career High for Wins in a Season at Nevada
Nevada's 1-0 win over Utah State gave the Pack its fourth win of the season.  The four wins marks the most wins in a season under second-year head coach Jaime Frias.  Frias recorded three overall wins as a first-year head coach in 2008.  The program record for most overall wins by a first-year head coach is six set by interim head coach Anotinette Marjanovic in 2007.

Erickson Tied for 11th in Career Goals
Junior Jill Erickson has recorded four goals this year and is currently in a tie for 11th all time with seven career goals.  Earlier this season she moved into a tie for first in consecutive matches with a point as she scored goals in three consecutive games.  She scored the game winner against Fordham on a header and scored the game winner against Sacramento State off a free kick.  She scored her third consecutive goal in a loss at Minnesota. Erickson is tied for fifth all-time in game-winning goals with three.  

Two Career Starts + Two Shutouts = WAC Defensive POW
Freshman Dana Moreno, who was named WAC Defensive Player of the Week on Sept, became just the second player in program history to record a shutout in her first collegiate start as Nevada blanked Fordham, 1-0.  She joins Caitlin Holmes who recorded a 2-0 win over Sacramento State in her first career start in 2006.  Moreno recorded her second career shutout two days later with a 2-0 win over Sacramento State.  With her two shutouts, Moreno is tied for fifth all-time in career shutouts.  She trails the all-time leader, Megan Tarpenning (2002-05), who recorded eight. 

Cove Moves into Second All-Time in Career Saves
Junior Marie Cove moved into second all-time in career saves.  Cove, who has recorded 31 saves this season, is second all-time with 111 career saves.  Cove trails Megan Tarpenning (2002-05) who recorded 403 career saves for Nevada.

Nevada's Recruiting Class Top in the WAC
Nevada soccer team's 11-member incoming class was ranked first in the Western Athletic Conference by topdrawersoccer.com.  Nevada was picked first followed by Idaho, Hawai'i, New Mexico State, Utah State, San Jose State, Boise State and Fresno State.  This is the first honor in program history for Nevada from topdrawersoccer.com.  The Pack's recruiting classes were ranked first in the conference by Soccer Buzz Magazine in 2005, 2006 and 2007.  

Drummond Named to Preseason All-WAC Team
Junior forward Cristen Drummond was named to the 2009 Preseason All-WAC Team. Drummond, who led the team in scoring last season with four goals, was named to the 2008 All-WAC First Team and the WAC All-Tournament Team. Her selection marks the 10th time a Nevada player has earned Preseason All-WAC honors. 

Drummond Cracks Career Top-10 in Points, Goals
Junior Cristen Drummond is ranked in the top-10 in both career points (10th - 21 points) and goals (T6 - nine goals).  She is the only current player to be ranked in those categories.  In 2008 she scored a team-leading four goals and leads the team in points with eight.  As a freshman in 2007, Drummond recorded five goals and three assists during the year and finished second on the team in points with 13.

Smith and Allen Win Second Consecutive National Championship
Junior defender Erin Smith and sophomore midfielder Annabelle Allen helped lead their U19 club team Colorado Rush to its second consecutive U.S. Youth Soccer National Championship. The Rush beat Eclipse Select of Chicago 4-2 in overtime of the championship game on July 26.  With the back-to-back national championships the Rush became the first club in U.S. Youth Soccer history to have two different teams repeat as champions. The Rush was also awarded with the U.S. Youth Soccer Fair Play Award within their division.  Smith and Allen also played on the Rush's 2008 National Championship team in which their U18 Colorado Rush team beat Sting 90 (North Texas) 3-0 for the title in Little Rock, Ark.

October 16 - Big Brothers, Big Sister Night/BBBS matches will bring their BBBS ID and get into the game for free.

Boise State to Host 2009 WAC Soccer Tournament
Boise State will host the 2009 WAC Tournament for the third time since 2005.  This year's tournament will be held at the Boas Soccer Complex November 5-6 and 7.  The top two seeds in the six-team tournament will receive first round byes. Quarterfinals will be played on November 5 and semifinal games will be played on November 6.  The championship game will be played on November 8 with the winner earning the WAC's automatic bid to the NCAA Tournament. Boise State has also hosted the WAC soccer tournament in 2005 and 2007.

Nevada will play host San Jose State on Friday, October 16 at 7 p.m. and Fresno State on Sunday, October 18 at 1 p.m.
