Nevada Post-Game Quotes

Head coach Chris Ault

On the offense:

"Offense played outstanding – Kaepernick, the line and the backs responded every single time."

"We never expect to reach 400-500 rushing yards, it's above and beyond. We made big plays, we did things we have not seen before."

On the defense:
"We had two turnovers that turned into 14 points, but we gave up some big plays."

On Idaho:
"Idaho is a very good offensive team, it is not the same Idaho we have seen over the past 4-5 years. This is the best Idaho team since I came back (in 2004)."

On Kaepernick:
"When he gets ahead he is tough to bring down, he's got that kind of speed."

"His throwing game was great tonight, he had great execution, he knew where the ball was going."

Junior running back Vai Taua

On the 89-yard TD run:

“I tried to have the speed for as long as I could, but I am glad the line opened up that big hole. And I give credit to Chris Wellington for his blocking down the field.”

On the offense this year:

“The difference is we have a lot more weapons – Luke, Kap, me. And the line is amazing.”

On the offensive performance today:

“This was definitely one of the best ones. The Fresno State game last year was good. I put this at top three, maybe top two.”

“Our goal was 300 yard rushing, for some reason we might have to raise that bar because we have been going over it lately.”

Junior quarterback Kaepernick:

On the game:

“Three-and-0 in conference now, and we got a win today and that’s all that matters.”

“There are always mistakes in the game and you always look to improve.”

“I’m very confident with seeing the defense and knowing what they are trying to get done, a lot of that is watching films and getting ready for that.”

On the run game opening up the pass game:

“We have receivers running wide open down the field, makes it easy for me.”

“For us the play action is like they are begging us to do it.”

On the offensive line:

“Our offensive line, when you rush through something like that, they are making it really easy on us.”

Senior linebacker Mike Bethea

On the game:

“Offense played well, 70 points that’s a lot of points. Defensively, another frustrating week, we should have been able to build off the first quarter.”

“We have to be able to build on the big stuff. It’s frustrating.”

On interception:

“It was only a 7-yard return, but it felt good, it was my first career (interception).”

Idaho Post-Game Quotes

Idaho Head Coach Robb Akey

On Colin Kaepernick:

“Going into the game I told you what we needed to do. We needed as a defense to take care of No. 10, and it looked to me like No. 10 could have been a Heisman trophy winner today”

“We didn’t tackle number 10. We didn’t tackle number 10. We didn’t tackle number 10.”

On slow start:

“We needed to take care of their defensive front at the beginning of the game and we did not do that.”

“As a defense we didn’t get the stops we needed to make.”

Defensive Lineman Aaron Lavarias

On Colin Kaepernick:

“We saw him on film, we knew he was an option quarterback, fast, and I think our schemes were good, we just weren’t tackling well.”

On Nevada:

“They just outplayed us today, my hat is off to them.”

On the defense:

“You can’t give up 70 points and expect to win.”

“We are down on ourselves but we have to keep our heads up, we still have a lot to play for.”
