RENO, Nev. - The University of Nevada soccer team fell to San Jose State 3-1 Friday night at Mackay Stadium.

With the loss, Nevada fell to 5-10 overall and 2-2 in WAC while San Jose State improved to 8-4-2 and 3-0-1 in the WAC and pushed its unbeaten streak to 10 games.

Nevada started off quick recording its first shot of the match 45 seconds into the game.  Natalie Ratnavira took the ball down the middle of the field and played it wide to Cristen Drummond on the right.  Drummond crossed the ball to Ellie Stott at the near post but Stott's shot went wide.

San Jose State took a 1-0 lead in the 7th minute as Angela Santoro took the ball down the right side of the field and hit a cross into the box.  Nevada keeper Marie Cove had the near post covered but the ball slipped to the back post and past a Pack defender and Roxy Kamal's diving header gave the Spartans a 1-0 lead.

In the 34th minute Ratnavira was shielding the ball from two San Jose State defenders in the corner.  She got the ball to Annabelle Allen who crossed the ball into the box but Raylene Larot's header went high.

In the second half the Spartans extended their lead in the 50th minute as Kelsey Lord beat Cove to give San Jose State a 2-0 lead.  The Spartans earned a penalty kick in the 76th minute after a San Jose State player was fighting for the ball with Cove and Drummond.

Ratnavira scored her third goal of the year in the 76th minute.  Larot hit a shot that was blocked and neither team could gain possession.  The ball came to Ratnavira who fired a shot from 30 yards out. The shot hit underneath the crossbar and bounced off San Jose State keeper Nina Butera and across the line to bring the score to 3-1.

Nevada outshot San Jose State 13-5 overall and 6-3 in shots on goal.  Ratnavira led the Pack with four shots.

Cove made one save for the Pack while Butera made five for San Jose State.

Nevada will host Fresno State at Mackay Stadium on Sunday at 1 p.m.
