LAS CRUCES, N.M. - The University of Nevada's women's golf team is tied for 15th after round one at the 2009 Price's Give 'Em Five Invitational. New Mexico State University is hosting the tournament held Monday-Wednesday at its par 72, 6,193-yard University Golf Course in Las Cruces, N.M.
As a team, the Wolf Pack carded 23-over 311, to tie for 15th with Portland State. Nevada stands eight strokes out of the top five. Leading the 18-team tournament is UC-Irvine at six-over 294, in second place is Idaho (296), followed by Fresno State (298), San Diego State (300) and Oregon and Baylor are tied for fifth at 15-over 303.
Sophomore Eugenia Guerra leads the team carding three-over 75 in a tie for 14th. Following Guerra is freshman Louise Yi (77) in a tie for 39th. Junior Lauren Hernandez shot eight-over 79 to tie for 58th. Rounding up the Wolf Pack are sophomore Jamie Yam (80) and junior Ana Patricia de la Maza (82) in ties for 67th and 79th.
There is a three-way tie for first in the individual field. Hannah Burke (Baylor), Christine Wong (San Diego) and Joy Trotter (Irvine) are leading at 3-under 69, a two-stroke advantage of Meghna Bal (71) of Kansas.
The Price's Give 'Em Five Intercollegiate continues on Tuesday and Wednesday. Tuesday's round begins with a shotgun start at 8:30 a.m. Mountain Time (7:30 a.m. Pacific Time), while Wednesday's final round tees off at 8:00 a.m. MT (7:00 a.m. PT).
