RENO, Nev. – Nevada’s Erin Smith tied the game in the 47th minute but UC Davis scored the game-winning goal in the 88th minute as the Aggies posted a 2-1 win over the Wolf Pack Sunday afternoon at Mackay Stadium.

 

With the loss Nevada falls to 0-7-2 this season while UC Davis improved to 5-4-2. 

 

In the 14th in the minute Nevada and Miranda Montejo found themselves in a 3-v.-2 situation against the Aggies.  Montejo played the ball wide to Samantha Miller on the left, Miller took a touch towards goal and hit a shot that was saved by Sarah Peters at the near post.

 

In the 21st minute Nevada had a consecutive pair of shots from Annabelle Allen and Cristen Drummond.  Jessica Thompson started the play by playing Allen into the box wide on the right side.  Allen’s shot was blocked by Peters and the ball bounced to Miller who found Cristen Drummond at the back post but Drummond’s one-time volley went high.

 

UC Davis went up 1-0 in the 40th minute as Gabina Bohlman scored on a header from a long throw in from Lauren Huntley. 

 

Nevada got on the board just after halftime in the 47th minute on Smith’s second goal of the season.  Devin Noe took a free kick that Drummond kept alive on the back post.  Miller collected the ball, turned and beat her defender before finding Smith inside the 18.  Smith hit a one-time shot to the far post to tie the game at 1-1.

 

The Aggies scored the game-winning goal in the 88th minute as Samantha Faber scored on a direct-free kick from 30-yards out.

 

UC Davis ended the match with 14 shots (eight on goal) while Nevada finished with six (three on goal).  Sarah Hunt recorded six saves in goal for Nevada while Peters finished the game with two for the Aggies.

 

Nevada will closeout its non-conference schedule traveling to Sacramento State on Thursday, Oct. 2 at 1 p.m. before hosting St. Mary’s on Sunday, Oct. 5 at 1 p.m.
