RENO, Nev. University of Nevada soccer team members, sophomore Erin Smith and freshman Annabelle Allen, won the U18 US Youth Soccer National Championship with their club team Colorado Rush.

Colorado Rush (Colorado) beat Sting 90 (North Texas) by a score of 3-0 in the US Youth Soccer National Championship final game on July 27, 2008 in North Little Rock, Ark.

The Rush out-shot the Sting 11-3 in the game.  The National Championship was the Rush’s eighth US Youth Soccer National Championship as a club, with the most recent championships coming in 2001 as the U19 girls claimed the title.

“We’re extremely proud of Erin and Annabelle for winning a National Championship with their club team,” Nevada head coach Jaime Frias said.  “This is an accomplishment not very many people have and the two of them should be very proud of how they represented our University and their club.”

Rush advanced to the National Championship after winning the Region IV US Youth Soccer Championship in Honolulu, Hawaii, June 16-22.  During that span, Colorado Rush went undefeated in group play with a 3-0 record and outscored its opponents 11-1.  The team won its semifinal game over MRFC-89 Blue, 2-0, and beat Slammers FC, 2-1, in the final game on June 22.
