DALLAS, TEXAS -- The Guaranty Bank SMU Athletic Forum announced today candidates for the 2008 Doak Walker Award. The award is presented annually to the nation’s top college running back.
The field of candidates includes the nation’s leading returning rusher, Eugene Jarvis, from Kent State. Other candidates include the leading returning rushers from
the Big 10 (Chris Wells, Ohio State); the Big 12 (Marlon Lucky, Nebraska); the SEC (Knowshon Moreno, Georgia) and the WAC (Nevada's Luke Lippincott).
Lippincott, a first-team All-WAC selection in 2007, rushed 1,420 and also led the WAC with 18 total touchdowns. He is in the Top 10 of Nevada's single-season or career records books in 13 different categories.
