The Nevada football team concluded preseason camp with a closed scrimmage at Mackay Stadium on Friday afternoon.
The Wolf Pack scrimmaged for about and hour and a half and the bulk was situational work, so no statistics were kept.
"We worked on some things that we expect to see early in the season," Nevada coach Chris Ault said. "It's always tough to simulate an opposing offense and defense and like any scrimmage there were good and bad things. But we have another scrimmage film to work with now and we'll get ready for Grambling State."
No practices are scheduled for this weekend and Nevada will open its first game week on Monday with practice at Wolf Pack Park.
"We've certainly got a ways to go," Ault said. "We saw a lot of good things in camp and we had some people step up. But we still have work to do."
Asked to highlight some players who stood out during camp, Ault selected a handful on each side of the ball.
"I think (tight end) Virgil Green made some excellent strides during camp," Ault said. "Tray Session showed us that he is ready to play and he will play a lot this season. Another receiver, Shane Anderson, he stepped up and he is going to play.
"Defensively, I really like the camp that Joshua Mauga had and the same goes for Mundrae Clifton. Those two are leaders and they lead by example. Zack Madonick was good and real steady all of camp. I like what we saw out of him. But we're not settled in the secondary. We still have plenty of competition going there."
Nevada opens the regular season on Aug. 30 against Grambling State.
