SALT LAKE CITY -- The University of Nevada football team was picked for third place in the preseason Western Athletic Conference polls on Wednesday at the WAC Football Preview.
In the coaches poll, Nevada held the same spot as the 2007 poll -- third place. Fresno State was picked by the coaches to win the league with Boise State second.
In the media poll, Nevada was also third, behind Boise State and Fresno State. Last season, Nevada was pegged for fourth.
Boise State running back Ian Johnson was the preseason offensive player of the year and Hawaii linebacker Solomon Elimimian was the preseason defensive player of the year.
