LINCOLN, Calif.   Senior Jennie Pleas turned in her best finish of the season to lead the University of Nevada women’s golf team to a 16th-place finish at the NCAA West Regional Preview, held Monday-Tuesday, March 31-April 1 at the par 72, 5,819-yard Lincoln Hills Golf Club.

Pleas matched her career low with a one-over 73 in Tuesday’s final round. She tied for 11th in her best finish of the year with a three-round total of six-over 222 (74-75-73). Junior Melanie De Leon ended up in a tie for 24th at 10-over 226 (75-73-78). Sophomore Pamela Abreu ended up a tie for 84th (81-85-76=242), while junior Luxchmi Gill (80-84-85=249) and senior Heather Olmstead (84-85-83=252) finished 97th and 100th, respectively.

As a team, Nevada finished 16th with a three-round total of 73-over 937 (310-317-310). Denver won the 19-team NCAA West Regional with a three-round total of 12-over 876 (288-290-298). The Pioneers turned in a commanding 24-stroke victory over second-place Oregon (900). Rounding out the top five teams were Fresno State (904), UC Davis (905) and UNLV (905).

Washington State’s Amy Eneroth captured individual medalist honors at the NCAA West Regional with a three-round total of even-par 216 (71-68-77). She turned in a one-stroke advantage over Oregon’s Cathryn Bristow (217).

The Wolf Pack will return to action April 7-8, traveling to the Cowgirl Classic in Chandler, Ariz. The University of Wyoming will play host to the event at the Ocotillo Resort in Chandler. A recap and results from each round will be available at www.nevadawolfpack.com.
