RENO, Nev. The University of Nevada has accepted an invitation to play in the Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl against Maryland on Dec. 30 in Boise, Idaho, athletics director Cary Groth announced today.

“We are very excited to welcome Nevada back to Boise for the Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl,” said Kevin McDonald, the bowl’s executive director. “We feel that we have a great matchup with Nevada and Maryland and we are looking forward to having a great bowl experience.”

This marks Nevada’s fourth straight bowl appearance, which is a program record. The Wolf Pack recorded a 7-5 overall record and went 5-3 to tie for second place in the Western Athletic Conference. Nevada had 10 players honored with All-WAC awards, including six on the first team, led by Offensive Player of the Year Colin Kaepernick.

“We are excited for the invitation to the Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl,” Nevada coach Chris Ault said. “We know from past experience that the city of Boise does a great job with this game. We are looking forward to playing Maryland, a great team from the ACC.”

The Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl is scheduled for a 1:30 p.m. (PT) kickoff on Dec. 30 and will be broadcast to a national television audience on ESPN.

“First and foremost, I want to thank our fans for their support during another great season of Wolf Pack football,” Groth said. “I want to congratulate Coach Ault and the players for their achievements. We are certainly proud to be playing in our fourth straight bowl game and we are looking forward to another wonderful experience at the Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl.”

This will be the first-ever meeting between the Wolf Pack and the Terrapins. The game marks Nevada’s second-ever game against a school from the Atlantic Coast Conference. The Pack’s first game against an ACC school was against Miami in the 2006 Humanitarian Bowl (then called the MPC Computers Bowl).

This is Nevada’s seventh trip to a bowl game as a member of the Football Bowl Subdivision and the Pack is 2-4 in those games.

Tickets for the Roady’s Humanitarian Bowl will be available at the Nevada ticket office or by calling (775) 348-PACK.
