Nevada Post-Game Notes

Nevada finished the regular season at 7-5 overall and 5-3 in the Western Athletic Conference. Nevada clinched second place in the Western Athletic Conference with the victory. This is the fourth straight season that Nevada finished .500 or above.

Nevada coach Chris Ault is now 198-90-1 all-time in his career.

Marko Mitchell caught six passes for 153 yards and went over the 1,000-yard mark for the second straight season. This is the 19th time in Nevada history that player recorded a 1,000-yard season.

Mitchell hauled in 62-yard touchdown pass and an 18-yard TD pass in the third quarter, his fifth and sixth touchdown catches in the last six games. Mitchell also tied for eighth place all-time at Nevada in career touchdowns with 21. He is tied with Geoff Noise (1995-98)

Mitchell moved into ninth place all-time at Nevada career receiving yards. He now has 2,653 yards in his career. He trails Nichiren Flowers by 15 yards for eighth place all-time.

Sophomore quarterback Colin Kaepernick had a season-high 397 yards on 24-of-42 passing with four touchdowns. The four touchdown passes matches a career high (vs. Fresno State, 2007) The yardage is the most since 404 last year against Louisiana Tech.

In two games against Teck, Kaepernick has 801 passing yards and seven touchdowns passing.

Kaepernick rushed for 28 yards on the day and now has 1,115 yards on the ground this year. That total is tied for the 24th-best single-season in NCAA history for rushing yards by a quarterback (tied with Eric Crouch, Nebraska, 2001).

Sophomore Vai Taua rushed for 61 yards and the game-winning touchdown. He concluded the regular season with 1,420 yards, tied (Luke Lippincott, 2007) for the fourth-best single-season in Nevada history.

Sophomore Kevin Basped forced a fumble in the first quarter, his third forced fumble of the season. Junior Chris Slack recovered the fumble, the first fumble recovery of his career.

Basped recorded 2.5 sacks in the game and nine tackles overall. He now has 10 sacks on the year and took the team lead over Dontay Moch (9.5).

Each of Nevada’s starting wide receivers Marko Mitchell, Chris Wellington and Mike McCoy caught a pass on Saturday and each finished the regular season with a catch in all 12 games during the year. Each of the trio also caught a touchdown pass in the game.

Et Cetera: Marko Mitchell has now caught a pass in 26 straight games and in 37 of 38 games in his career ... Colin Kaepernick has thrown a touchdown pass in 11 straight games ... This is the first game this season that Nevada trailed in the second half (17 points) and came back to win ... Mike McCoy recorded his first 100-yard game of the season ... Nevada won the coin toss and deferred to the second half.
