Postgame Notes:  Colin Kaepernick’s 61-yard touchdown run in the first quarter was his 12th rushing TD of the season (and 18th of his career). He is now tied for 10th at Nevada in single-season TDs with 12 (Charvez Foger 1987 and 1988; B..J. Mitchell 2005; Chance Kretschmer 2003).

Kaepernick topped the 100-yard mark in rushing for the second time this season and fourth time in his career.

Vai Taua rushed for 160 yards and a touchdown a 79-yard run to open Nevada’s first possession of the second half. That 79-yard run was the longest of his career and it marks Nevada’s longest scoring play of the season. Taua has now topped the 100-yard mark five times this season (and overall in his career). 

Marko Mitchell’s 5-yard TD reception in  the fourth quarter was his 17th at Nevada. He is tied for 10th all-time with Steve McHenry (1994-95). He is one TD shy of ninth place (Scott Threde, 1983-86).

James Michael Johnson recorded his first career interception with a pick off Tyler Graunke in the first quarter. He returned the interception 5 yards.

Senior kicker Brett Jaekle connected on a 32-yard field goal in the second quarter, his fourth consecutive make this season. Jaekle is now 8-of-10 on FGs on the year. His last miss with a 44-yard attempt vs. Texas Tech in Week 2.

Junior safety Jonathon Amaya recorded his second interception of the season and fourth of his career with a pick in the second quarter.

Sophomore defensive end Kevin Basped recorded three sacks and four total tackles for loss, both marks are career highs. He combined with fellow soph Dontay Moch for five sacks and seven TFLs.

Starter changes: Hawaii native Jared Silva-Purcell made his first career start, getting the nod at MLB in place of Joshua Mauga.

Et cetera: Nevada’s defense held Hawaii to just 42 yards of total offense in the first half (lowest total this season) ... Jared Silva-Purcell served as the team’s long and short snapper on special teams with Ryan Coulson out with injury this week ... Mitchell has now caught a pass in 22 straight games and in 33 of 34 games in his career ... Next up for Nevada is the team’s second bye week of the season. Following that bye week, Nevada will travel to Fresno State for a Friday night showdown with the Bulldogs on Nov. 7 on ESPN2 ... Please note that the Wolf Pack Quarterback Club Luncheon returns to the Peppermill on Monday. Lunch is $16 and doors open at 11:30. The event is open to the public.
