Nevada at Hawai’i Postgame Notes:
- With the 77-59 victory at Hawai’i on Saturday night, Nevada improved to 9-6 on the year and 1-1 in WAC play.
- The team turned in its second consecutive win at Hawai’i's Stan Sheriff Center and won there for the third time in four years.
- The victory gave fourth-year Nevada head coach Mark Fox the 90th win of his career. Fox now holds a 90-24 record (.789 winning percentage) since becoming Nevada’s head coach in 2004-05.
- Senior Marcelus Kemp led the Wolf Pack with a season-high 29 points. It marked his 25th consecutive game in double figures and the 56th in 58 contests. Kemp also made three three-pointers in the game. He has made 184 treys in his career and needs just one more to tie Jerry Hogan (185, 1990-94) for second place on the Nevada career list.
- Kemp also moved past Darryl Owens (548 field goals, 1986-89) into sixth place on the Nevada career list for field goals made with 556.
- Sophomore Brandon Fields scored 14 points, including a pair of three-pointers, while freshman Armon Johnson had 11 and sophomore JaVale McGee added 10 points.
- McGee also led the team in rebounding for the seventh time in the last eight games with 11 boards. That also marked his team-leading fourth double-double this season.
- After shooting a season-low 43.8 percent from the free throw line (7-16) Thursday at San Jose State, Nevada shot a season-high 85.7 percent from the charity stripe tonight (18-21).
- Kemp made all eight of his free throw attempts tonight and now has made his last 20 free throws, dating back to the second half of the Dec. 22 game at Northern Iowa.
- After falling behind 22-10 with 7:21 to play in the first half, Nevada finished the game on a 67-37 run.
- The Wolf Pack continues WAC play next week, playing host to Idaho on Thursday, Jan. 17 and Boise State on Saturday, Jan. 19. Both games will tip off at 7:05 p.m. Pacific Time at Lawlor Events Center.
