The quarterbacks stole the show on Saturday during the Nevada football team’s second scrimmage of fall camp at Mackay Stadium.
Sophomore Nick Graziano and redshirt freshman Colin Kaepernick the two quarterbacks vying for the starting job combined to throw for 349 yards and two touchdowns on 24-of-33 passing during the offense-dominated scrimmage.
“I was really pleased with the quarterbacks today,” head coach Chris Ault said. “They made a big jump from last week to this week. Both of those guys are fighting hard for playing time. They are neck and neck right now.”
The pass-heavy scrimmage saw 16 different players catch at least one pass. Junior Mike McCoy led the team with five catches for 65 yards. Junior Marko Mitchell had four catches for 60 yards. Senior Kyle Sammons had 3 receptions for 46 yards, including a 32-yard scoring strikes from Graziano. Senior Alex Rosenblum had the other touchdown reception a 28-yard catch from Kaepernick.
